Big enough heatsink?

Hi LPF,

I'm planning on doing M140 build and I'm going to use a Guidesman host. I'm going to buy the FMT V2 from Cajunlasers set at 1.7A. Will I get a decent duty cycle at this current? I know DTR once did a 6 minute run at 1.5A with the same host (HERE). So do you think I will get a duty cycle above 1min runtime? :thanks: in advance!

If your looking at a guides man host you might check out the host I'm selling. Similar in design as how you build it, but has a bigger and takes larger battery's.

Are you buying a host from somewhere, so that it has the solid aluminum block to hold the module? That's pretty key in ensuring that your host will adequately heatsink your laser.

@awillis Your host looks great bit that's just a tad bit to expensive for me, and I like the fact that a Guidesman can take a 26650 battery :yabbem:

@Bionic-Badger I'm buying the host and heatsink from Cajunlasers (HERE), and the sink was is the same as the on machined by Eudaimonium (HERE), Again, the same as DTR's build.

It only take a battery up to 25500 and only comes in red. I might be able to work on the price with you a bit.

@awillis Eudaimonium's page says it can take a 26650 battery with a slight mod to the tailcap, and I rather like the color of the host. I really do like your host and it battery configuration! :thanks: but no thanks, maybe in the future!

@Bionic-Badger What duty-cycle do you think I will be able to get? Thanks in advance!

No problem, I understand I had got the same host but different color and had got a bad heat sink but cliff assured me it was the last one it ended up become a host for a 532nm eBay pen
Link in my sig.

@awillis That build looks great! Did the heatsink come polished from clif?

I'm not too sure what duty cycle you can use, but maybe a minute or two. I'd feel how warm the thing is getting and try to gauge it from that.

Thank you very much! And the off time, is that around half the on time? So on to off is 2:1?
