Adhesive Heatsink Plaster for PC Hard Parts (5g) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
Just scrape off the original white thermal glue. Apply this and wa la. Shouldn't take more than 5 mins resticking and re-aligning it. You just try to get the green light, and to align it properly with the beam coming straight, you can just put it on a horizontal surface against a white wall and try to roll it around. You will get the hang of it pretty fast.
The glue sets in about 15 mins. It's ok, you can re-do it to your heart's content. You can then get a very beautiful "spotlight", as in the the dot could be 5.0 mRad and whole hotspot is really very even.
If it's not aligned properly, you'd get a crescent moon or something. The beam internally is also partially hitting the sides of the bezel....you'd get a slight power loss.
