Hello, does anybody know the thread type of Dragon Lasers Spartans battery cap?I want to add a tube and mod it to work with 18650 batteries.

Hi MrM, I just checked my 589nm Spartan, and the outside diameter of the male end of the battery tube measures at 22.6mm, (probably 22.75mm nominal size).

The thread pitch looks to be 0.75mm.

The inside diameter of the tailcap (female thread), measures 22.0mm. This is consistant with it being a 0.75mm pitch thread.

Edit: If you're having someone make this for you, it may be a good idea to send the tailcap to ensure the best fit. These chinese parts seem to vary from part to part. :D

Thanks for those exact measurements. I thought maybe someone know the standard of those threadings. This might be good to know. There are some many different standards.

You're welcome. It gave me a chance to play with my 589nm for a while.

Yes, the 0.75mm pitch is a standard metric thread pitch, also, like you said there are many standards depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

Edit: I just checked my CNI PGL host, and it has a coarser 1.00mm pitch thread, which would be a little harder to crossthread.

I don't know if something has changed but the original 447nm Spartan calls for 3.2V cells and not 3.7V. Better check it out first before you take the next step;)

Definitely do not use 3.7V battery without major mod. I know this for a fact because I smoked a 447 doing this! See my signature!!!! I do however have a perfect host for a mod if someone is interested in making a Frankenspar laser.

Could you post a pic?
