I seem to have a 445 with a screwed up beam, I'm betting one or more of the dies is defective and right out of the projector :cryyy:

Has any one see this pattern before ?
it is being driven with 1400mA and is only putting out 140mW

here is a diode that puts out plenty of power and seems to have a normal pattern, this one is being driven with 1400mA and is putting out 1800mW.
The black spot is dirt on the lens.

Thanks for looking :D

Yup. Seems very familiar to me - I've killed my fair share of 445s. That's a common zombie output - usually, it's the central modes that go first.

This is my first one, I have killed a few 445's and zombie'd a couple 405's but this is my first zombie 445.

Yuppers.... I've blown few multi-line LDs myself that were
quite a bit more expensive than a 445nm LD. Ouch !!

Mine still Lase but only the lines that have not been damaged.
Hence the low output.

The quickest clue is the low output power compared to the
high input current.

you need to press your dioded in with Flaminpyro's diode press :san:

That looks EXACTLY like the patten on my Mitsubishi ML501P73. Same symptoms, it's drawing 1.4 amps and is putting put 4mW according to my LPM.
