Atomi DIY beam expander

So at 31 feet with 3 element lenses we get a "dot" of 50mm. With the beam expander we get a more perfect dot of 20mm.

Can't take a picture of the dot with calipers in frame since I have to hold the beam expander in place.

Thanx for sharing your continued experiments. Let me add that this type of experimenting and tinkering is the " Prime Mover " of our continued efforts to push our hobby forward.

Augh Oh...." Rant Warning " !!!!

To any member who takes the time to experiment....and share that learning path....I say...THANK YOU ! You fuel the fire of evolution !

You share your experiments and learning....and in turn....we all learn....and push the hobby forward.

Here...and at PL.... we have...by working together...made a small difference.
We are no big lab....with huge scientific testing equipment.... and a staff of highly educated professional engineers.

But....we have passion....and scientific curiosity....and we pursue ...the " Truth "....and that is the pillar of the Scientific Methodology !!

OK...end rant !

Just wanted to express my thanks at your efforts. Beam Expanders are amazing optics !!
But....rather expensive....so....if they can be cobbled together....for a small amount of $$$...That is a real winner !! Thanx

Thank you for your gratitude! I used no glue and only used what I purchased it all came together nicely the mounting is an issue though. For around 17 bucks and some tinkering anyone can make this into a working adjustable beam expander! How do I post pics?

OK....After you hit " Post Reply"...scroll down....to below the " Message " box....to the area identified as
" Additional options "...under the banner " Attached Files "...hit the " Manage Attachments " button.

A new marquee appears....which allows you to browse your computer and upload images.

Note: the image size is limited to 800 pixels x 600 pixels....SOooo....you must reduce your image size to be within that range. If you do not reduce the image size to be equal or less than 800 x 600.....The LPF site will not allow you to post that image.

There are other ways....such posting a URL link in your thread to a third party Photo hosting site...like " Image Shack "....or whatever !! I have always found this to be a PITA...but...that's me ! Good luck !

Looking the divergence, it seems to expand the beam about 4-5 times. Pretty good!

Yeah I would say so. It really shines at a distance (obviously lol), I was just surprised at the vast difference in the two dot profiles at about 70 yards. :D

For $17 you really can't beat it and it was so easy!

I really hope more people will see this so everyone can have a beam expander.

yeah. Also, avoid double/tripple/multi posting (posting more than once in a row on one thread, so you get a series of your comments with no people in between), unless you're bumping a thread, so please edit your posts or pack everything into one post. this is a forum rule, not a suggestion so please avoid doing that. Its ok though, we all did it when we first started :thanks:
