I need to know about what mW rating a green beam will become fairly visible "in lighted room say"? i ask because i am mounting a laser on a Daisy Powerline Model 400, Desert Eagle replica from 1994. and i want the beam to be visible during most aplications. preferable a visible beam at least when the sun starts to go down. direct sunlight is pretty bright so that doesnt matter.

Let me know what you guys think, heres a pic of the gun.

beam, guess i should have been more clear. no smoke. its a sight for a gun. beam must be fairly visible during daylight hours, say equivilant to a lighted room.

this is not posible. Sorry to tell you this but you will never be able to see a green laser in daylight (except it's starting to get dark or it's very cloud).

if you can see the beam clearly in daylight, you probably don't need the gun to kill the target 8)

200mW should be faintly visible in the daylight, and extremely bright at night. If I point the beam of a 100mW straight out close to my face, I can see it in direct sunlight.

*sigh* if you read my first and second post in this thread, it sais

"FOR EXAMPE, A LIGHTED ROOM, NEEDS TO BE VISIBLE WHEN SUN IS GOING DOWN roughly thats what the jist of it was.

ok i can see my open can red's beam in a fully lighted room. ya gotta pay attention to detail. i dont need a green laser to be visible in broad daylight. only as the sun receeds "goes down" or in darker places. so i know its possible. green is 10X more visible to the human eye than red correct?

@Primary - The laser is for cosmetic purposes only. nothing is being killed.

so i'll ask again, at what mW rating does a green BEAM become visible at dusk, or in a lightly lit room. no smoke/fog.

thnx in advance,

Dark

yea in direct sun you cannot see my 400+mw of 532 but in the shade yea you can see it fairly well in the house its scarey bright and very dangerous

oh sorry, my mistake. Didn't saw that. Then I couldn't tell you, it all depends on the level of darkness, but in the same conditions, if a LOC is visible you should see green beam with 100mW or more. I might even tell 50 :P

im going to have to settle with 200-250mw then.

but im gunna play with a 50 first and see what it looks like

i suggest you try 125mw or 15omw -- im designing some gun sights for our military here in our country and thats what they use for their training..

btw, you have to also remember, the laser must be shock resistant in order to function well, use a good host that can withstand the gun power... or else your laser will be damaged..

of try to make an adjustable laser have a module that can carry out a 250mw +- then just add an adjuster to make it go down to 50mw then 125 - 150mw then 250mw :)

it is only a modified Co2 pistol. the co2 chanmber is almost twice as large as the stock chamber. but even with the PSI mod it does not kick that hard. and as im sure some of you know, the Desert Eagle's slide "the part that blows back after every shot" extends almost all the way to the tip of the barrel. so my only option for Beam mounting is to attach it to the FLAT bottom of the barrel. there are no moving parts there, and is an excelent surface for a permanent, to semi-permanent bond. i am still looking for a nice minimal black enclosure that will be somewhat streamline with the gun itself. i have mounted an aixiz module with a RED LOC and small rcr123a battery. no enclosure.

this was done to test matrixcs's theory about the force aplied to the gun due to recoil. and the laser held its own with not a single problem. i think it is a very fast motion that the gun makes, but theres not that much UMPH behind it. remember its only a co2 pistol, although it has the PSI mod, the bullets go allot faster, but the recoil is fairly the same. reguardless it wasnt enough to unstick my mounted red LOC.

I can see my LED SHOPPE 50mW's Lasers BEAM in the house at noon with all the drapes open.............rob
