Are reasonably priced 12x's really that hard to find?

If you're willing to harvest a 12X from its sled, I've gotten 5 of them from a reliable guy on ebay for <$50 everytime. PM me if you want more info

Well thanks,
that sounds fair, and it's around what I paid for each of the two I've got on order. I'll be happy to take a look to see how his prices are when I'm back in the market looking for more...

Actually I'm a bit intrigued by the BW-512 that Cenobite9 mentioned. I think I would try to get a couple of those next if they are similarly priced.

Thanks Guys!

well they're about the same price as an A-140 so if I had the time and money right now I would definitely be on my way to 750+mW of blu-ray and honestly I have heard lots of really good comments about the SF-BW512's around here lately and I believe they are from 12x's

I only know that a lot of people's diodes have died quickly when they run them that high..but I suppose duty cycle is everything and a little TLC and a massive chunk of aluminum would help..

Maybe one day there will be such a thing as a 40x blu-ray player!

I'm really looking forward to the day my 12x's arrive in the mail so I can get started...

I believe by the time 40X's come out they will have stopped using optical storage and switched to solid state, or they will have come out with some new fangeled color that's better then 405.

I got fake BDR-S06J diodes, I am trying to get them to replace w/ the real sleds! -Glenn

Wow! Scammers need to be stabbed with chop sticks.

I'm sincerely grateful that guys like you are watching out for us in taking what seems to be a considerable risk.

I think it's time I attempted to give some rep... Edit: that was easier than I thought!

Thanks,

My experience with the 512's is that they shouldn't be pushed much past 700mW. The ones i've played with in the past have been VERY susceptible to back reflections when pushed higher than that. I even killed one just by fluorescing glowsticks with it.
