Hi. Whenever I see a tutorial for a Dorcy Jr. they always tend to use cr123a primaries. Is there a reason that they don't use rcr123a's other than because primaries are usable?

Rechargeables are fine. The flexdrive can take up to 5.5V

That depends on the host, as well as the battery...
But the best quality RCR123's (AW brand), are the same length and diameter as a CR123 primary.
