cool is it worth buying? when u say focused do you mean to a point or as a beam?

How do they go about getting the beam focused to a fine point at the tip of that fiber optic strand. Is it focused through a collimator lens BEFORE it goes into the optics fiber ? If it's not collimated there, then that must be an awfully tiny collimator lens that they use at the tip of the optic fiber  :-? :-/

IIRC... a Ball Lens is used to focus a Fiber optic laser beam...

I bought one a while back to do some experimenting...
The lens I have is .200" diameter..,

I bet that diode assembly would appreciate a big heatsink or a TEC. That's a lot of current for that small mounting.
You may need a 3 to 5" FL lens to get a good burn with that. The ball lens is real close focus.
