You better buy more than one then. That hack is a sure way to kill our diode. Sure it lights up, but what are you going to do tomorrow after your totally stressed out diode dies?

If I were you, I'd just buy a bare diode from Stonetek instead. They're those 16x diodes, only you don't need to go about harvesting it yourself, which often leads to breaking it before you can even test it!

You should read through a variety of posts on this messageboard to learn more before you delve into making a laser and burning it out before you get to see the pretty red light.
