Hi everyone and a HUGE (I had to scream it  ) thanks to all of you, even if I'm properly introducing myself only now. This forum has been for me, and I'm sure not for me alone, the most useful source of knowledge a laser fan could possibly desire.
Well, a little background of this italian newbie: I'm an engineer student in Milan, and I'm doing my best to find time for my hobby, between an exam and the other. A huge hand comes from my father: while I'm the "brain" of the duo, he is the electrical expert with a passion for lasers as great as mine.
We have been dealing with lasers for a couple of years now, and I decided to actively join this forum after making up my mind to move from pure lab experimentation to handheld devices. I've just finished designing our first laser host, a quite cool one of the direct press type. A good friend of us (who also happens to be an employee at my father's workshop) is lathing it at the moment, and I assure you that he is sooooo good at that.
Anyway, it's gonna be our first blue laser, after a long work on dear old reds and more recent blu-rays. We haven't found an agreement on the diode yet, but I do like the osram pl-tb450b, and to be honest I'm just waiting for the restock on DTR's website... Before I forget, a particular thanks to DTR himself, who helped me with some lens dimensions before I joined the forums: if you are out there, somewhere, I'm the guy who asked about the G-2 and its long barrel version, thanks again for that!
Ok, I think that's enough for a "short" introduction. I'm sure I'm gonna love these forums (too easy, I alredy do), even if I probably won't have too much time to write here, duty calls...
P.S. I'm having a little safety issue, but that's a problem for another section, so I'm gonna open a thread there. Thanks in advance to everyone who might want to help me.
The little pointer is dead, long live the badass laser!
