Another FREE laser, just pay shipping!

Don't apologize for something done out of good will, Alex. Looks like no good deed goes unpunished.

I agree, Alex. It was a kind gesture and one should never apologize for them. You weren't trying to make any money out of this, just a nice idea. :yh:

Keep it... or dismantle it with pics and info. That way many people can enjoy it

Edit... I found on on ebay for 1.50$ shipped..

That's the problem with these things - even if you give them away shipping cost kill the deal since you get them for less free shipping off of ebay.

Even domestic shipping costs would exceed the shipping-included for sale on ebay like these.

And by domestic i don't only mean the US: even in a tiny country like the netherlands it would cost me more than $1.5 to ship that laser domestically even if it would fit the mail slot - no way compete with these chinese vendors unless quick arrival is the main issue.

I wouldn't mind it for $3 via paypal, that leaves just enough to print a first class shipping label to mail it in a tiny box or padded envelop.

Does it focus well to a tiny dot for long range pointing?

I need some color in my signature!

This laser will light glow in the dark and fluorescent stuff right?

Hello Nutball,

It isn't focusable at all unfortunately. I tried doing some work on dark colored plastic and nothing, not even smoke! :( Yes, like all 405's it will glow in the dark :yh:

Some of them you can focus if you open the front up a bit. You usually do quite a bit of case damage for these are usually Hella epoxied together.

Not even internally focusable on the brass? diode housing itself?

Anyway it doesn't matter as long as it lights up, and is focused pretty well to infinity.

I wonder if it needs a little heatsink for 50mW. I just looked it up if it's the one on laser fanatics, and they do have a 50mw which was probably sent by mistake, no heatsink, 30 seconds on limit.

Do you think it would withstand and be brighter on ultimate lithium energizer batteries, 3.6v max?

I would assume the driver would just make that extra voltage into heat

Hap, why don't you take this one apart also like your other and play with the focus??
Not all front caps are tight and will give you issue's like the other.. Iv'e been able just to use my fingers on a couple.
Sometimes the trick is to wiggle the cap back and forth a bit before trying to twist it. Iv'e yet to see glue on the cap on the pens iv'e taken apart but they can be snug..
I got a 405 ebay pen from Pman and can fine focus it to light a match..:D
The lens setting might have a "small" dab of glue on one side but nothing that can't be flicked off.
Pman made a welcomed re appearence and has a link to his ebay pen's focus mods.
The most fun you can have for a $5 pen in my opinion:) Don't miss this chance for some feel good time and its "free":):)

Edit: Hap just wan't to add as the 405 beam is really hard to see in normal conditions, on your earlier ebay pen dissection thread that highly divergant spot you made starts with a tightly focused spot an inch or 2 from the from the tip before is spreads..
