Very clean ! Isn't it a bit overkill though ? 1.5W can be achieved with single diode. Even 2W with some of them.

Nice looking build. Is this going in a RGB?

Running two diodes at a low current will allow it to run longer before over heating or the diodes burning up. Also I think the main goal with this build is to stack the two line shaped dots to get a better beam shape.

Nice!

I really like the simple and neat looking layout of it.
Is it running fairly cold?

And this is knife edging? I would like to try this sometime, but I really don't know anything about it.

as has been said i want the diodes to last a long time.

this isnt a little point that turns on for 30 seconds, this is a module that will stay for up to 10 hours at a time without over heating.

also when using a prism pair you have to get the beams very very close together so you loose power. but you get a better final beam

Very nice job Andy- and the photos are incredible-- is that a prism in front of the knife edge combining and what drivers are those?

its only a camera phone pic nothing special lol

yes a prism pair to correct the beam.

die4laser drivers.

Nice build! That beam at 18 meters looks really good, at least when compared to one without the prism correction.

Any idea about the beam shape even further away, say at 200 meters or so? I wonder if it remains oval like that or eventually goes to a line. With just a normal lens i noticed that the beam was pretty round at 5 meters or so, but after that it just keeps on diverging in one axis resulting in a line eventually.

no idea dont have the ability to test at 200 metres

without prism pair -
