No, it's been around for a long time. The output on the odd wavelengths are nothing to write home about though (on the order of 0.5mW) - but I doubt you'll see 604nm anywhere else.
They can be had used for about 2 grand, but as far as I know their fragility is an issue. Turn the knob too far and getting them to lase again can be an all week process.
