Interesting find. A bit odd it's USB 3.0 device since 3.0 hasn't even been released yet. Last I heard it was delayed for another year.

I'm sure it's just repackaged like all of Buffalo drives. Its USB 3 because they want it compatible when USB 3 comes out. USB power comes from the computer, so they just updated the wiring. That's why USB 1 still works with USB 2 outputs.

Right, I understand that. I guess its just forethought on their part. I've just haven't seen a manufacturer release a product that's compatible with a technology that's at least a year away.

802.11n products were out a LONG time before the standard was ratified, they were just "draft-n" compatible. I'm sure it's the same idea here, someone has to be the first in order for there to be many.

I was about to get all smug about being a linux user and already having USB 3.0 until I remembered the hassle I have to go to in order to play DRMed Blu-Ray movies.
