Amazing diode !!

Hey guys just thought I would share my thoughts on this wonderful beauty of a diode. It’s a 30 watt 975nm diode runs at 5 volts 12 amps and it is truly amazing except how easily the fiber can and WILL break. I broke the tip off but it stills works great!! I’ll add some pictures if I can figure out how But at only 5 watts it burns stuff pretty dang well, it’s called the PLD-40-974 from IPG Photonics it was 350 dollars new and I have it up for sale for 200 I’ll add the pictures later as they can only be 800x600 for some reason but look this baby up it’s awesome!

Somewhat yes, it’s my own 60 watt peltier cooler that I have mounted it to, I just don’t like that the fiber is 5 feet long !

Isn't the output a bundle of many emitters that's hard to focus across a room, I really want a true fiber laser, these need a cutting head and are used for close to the work piece marking and such.

Have you attempted to focus it at any distance?

Its two 15W emitters combined and launched into a single fibre , output is a single cone of light .

you would never know its two emitters , the give away is the forward voltage of 4V .

I managed to focus mine at 300mm to a spot but never tried further

I have not tried focusing it as I don’t have the proper power supply for 30 watts I can only get about 5 out of it as of right now but it will burn a hole in 1/4 of wood from a distance of about 3-4 inches unfocused at 30 watts and will engrave wood at 5 watts.

You said you broke the fiber. It won't work the way it was intended with that fiber edge broken off. You might be able to focus it to burn stuff, but forget about pumping with it.
