maybe we could get c0ld to add a noob alert feature

While I do agree newcomers should be treated with respect, I also do not believe they should be spoon fed

first of all, i totally agree with you, they should learn to find things out for themselves, although i do believe in giving people key search words to steer them in the right direction,

second of all, Uh ... WHY is the search bar at the bottom?!?!

LP! That sounds more like a Noob Fire Alarm, I see Emergency Red lights flashing when i read those logos you made! :P

Haha good! we need big flashy alarms to stop this noob problem:D

Update:

The search bar at the bottom just redirects you to the ...wait for it... same search bar at the top. Looks the same only smaller. So shouldn't be any worries on finding it since it's double covered.
And what's up with the title SBA? Kinda contridicts your name yah?:D. Is the moon full or what?

The search bar at the bottom uses google to search the forums while the other one doesn't. It has been moved to the bottom because it loads slow. You can press the "LPF Search" button at the top to take you down to the google search bar for easy access. They (LPF Search and Search) are two different ways to search the forum, they are not the same thing. Different options for different people.

I don't understand your redirect statement, maybe that's where the confusion lies.

SOP: When using "god" in any sentence, it is used to express unbelievability. ie: any deity of any sort.

No No No...go back and read my last post.

The number of people not using Search is unbelievable...just like god is unbelievable.

Stin: everytime I click on the bottom one, it redirects me to the top search bar. But I am on a phone so maybe that's why.
Firelaser: almost fell out of my chair at that one.
SBA: I had a friend who was agnostic- not athiest- and he used the GD word all the time and said it was simply out of habit, but I still ragged him about it anyway. :D I always thought that if you didn't believe in something, you simply just didn't bring it up because it wasn't a part of your life. Maybe just me. But if your gonna put something like that out there, it's probably gonna get some cracks. Remember this, a lot of these guys are young, if not kids. I know it's frustrating sometimes and you wanna snap there necks off, but my answer would simply be to give them the link to the search and leave them to their own devices. Like the dog chasing his tail, it makes no sense but is funny as hell to watch. However there were times I used the search bar and still didn't understand all that I was reading.

RawPaul, I do try to remain patient with the noobs, particularly when it appears as if they've done their homework. When this thread was posted, last week, the forum was experiencing a dearth of threads from people who ran straight here after a kipkay or styropyro (this in not a comparison) video, and ran straight here with their idiotic questions.

With regard to using the word, "god", it is a common part of American language. Ubiquitous even. Whether I believe is not going to dictate my use the word.
It's just like any person exclaiming, "Oh my God!" when expressing unbelievability...Just like god is unbelievable. I'm not going to explicitly exclude a word from my vocabulary because it doesn't "share my values".

As far as cracks go about an atheist using the word, 'god' go; It would be nothing new to me, and I'm far too unconcerned to be bothered by it.

SBA: IMHO, sometimes when you post, it seems you are in a fit. Think I read something saying the same from IE and Blord a while back. Maybe you don't mean to come off that way, and sometimes it's difficult to know when you only read from a typed message. I know of failed relationships because of this. If they wish to remain stupid then let them. Only the ignorant can prevail through learning.
I know you mean well in wanting to populate this forum with new people cause your usually the first one to give a hardy welcome.:D but if there are those who are really dumb, maybe we don't need them on here, so hopefully just ignoring those who don't listen is the best solution all around. IDK
Maybe need to post a warning sign saying "we do not support anything advised by kippkay" whoever this person is. All I know is, I've heard a lot of negative things about him.

As far as the word "god" goes, yes a lot of people use words like that without even thinking about it. I just find it interesting that people say things that are not even related to a topic or doesn't fit their personna. Yes, we are creatures of habit. Like when someone sneezes, most people say God bless you. Why?

As far as the "cracks" go, there's no better one's than those coming from yourself. We are our own worst critics and our own best jesters. So get to crackin'. How about posting some jokes about it as I'm sure you've heard many. Sorry didn't mean to turn this into a religious thread.

P.S. as for the "crack", I don't think it was directly related to you. It seemed like an exaggeration to how bad the questions from noobs had gotten

Use concise short answers, and refer people to specific threads if it's a well documented question in some specing thread you happen to know, or search if it's a general question.

A thousand times both of these. In fact I actually set up in TextExpander so I could give pretty detailed yet easy to understand answer with just a couple keystrokes. I've pretty much given up even attempting to help newbies unless they've shown they've done some basic research and if they cop an attitude I'm done with them.
