Picked up a flashlight that has a pretty good throw but not as strong as my 12T6 so a host it is, holds 2 or 3 x 26650 with sleeves for 18650's, has an extension that's removable of course if you want to run 2 cells, but why, 3 are much better.

The spring board is 26mm wide and the head will hold a 2.125 that's 2 1/8 inch wide length of bar stock ( pic is without trim/bezel ring that is 1.125 in the clear) or you could have cut a custom sink, not a bad host for 29 dollars shipped, I stripped the board to reuse and will either use a 2 inch length of bar stock or possibly get someone with a lathe to make one as the fins are pretty nice, there's plenty of room under the wide portion of the head for your drivers before you hit the springboard, about 1.25 inches x 1.25 or a hair under.

These things can vary so I'm not going to measure everything in detail, just order your own and build to fit as these things can change a few mm from lot to lot.

Pretty cool looking host, should have a long runtime and stave off power drop with a large sink.

Very nice, thank you for the great photo's too. +rep next time I can.

Yea I want to do 2 x NUBM44's both 6X corrected and combined with a PBS cube then shoehorned into a 3X BE, or I may shove 4 x NUBM06 diodes in the center of the heat sink just raw GBall output overlapping and see if the batteries pop.

There's a lot of room in the head with the bezel screwed on and another 1.25 x 1.25 under the 2 x 2 round before hitting the springboard.

It promises to be an interesting building ! it will be out of a real cannon from the war of power

Even though the NUBM44 is 450 nm blue, wow.... the power! PBS combining two would be awesome, I don't know why there aren't more pointers built with combining cubes, it isn't that difficult. When expanding the slow axis using a pair of 6X cylinder lenses, I suppose unequal divergences between the fast and slow will still be there, actually further apart then. I don't know it is possible to both beam correct or square up the shape and have equal divergences for each axis too, probably isn't. Doesn't really matter for our purposes anyway, but the thought just occurred to me this would be the case. Correct me if I am wrong, I want to be.

I have seen people use a cyl pair after the cube, but I would correct each beam side by side then use a mirror to turn the already corrected beam that's to the side of center to enter the cube's side, the center corrected beam would pass straight through the cube.

I could use a wave plate if I want a double strength rectangle or not if I want a + in the far field, leaving the cube and entering the 3X is tight, I would sure like to find or make a physically wider BE in relation to it's power, a wider lensed 3X or better about a 3 inch wide 7X BE would work well on half way focused GBalls and make them useful at longer distances. They could be cubed in a + pattern without correction if we had wider stronger BE's, mostly wider lensed in relation to the power.

I need a sketch to understand. I've been thinking of some tricks for a PBS cube which might work to share when more sure of them.

Best wishes, great looking host at a inexpensive price. Kinda hope you choose the 4x 044 build, never seem that done, would be real interesting. That would be some awesome power, what a beam it would throw!
