>80mW 473nm handheld laser from Lasever

just to update/bump for sale thread, I filtered out the blue and tested IR... nothing. If there is any coming out, my LPM won't detect it.

It was a pretty good laser, sad to see it go, but it's for a good cause. 589, you're next.

And on the bright side, you still have a 473 peaking over 300mW (super jealous by the way) so you're not losing that color :) 589 is the first "rare" color on my list :)

P.S. You might want to edit this laser out of your sig ;)

I'll keep it in my sig as "sold", the review is still worth it because it's such a good laser.
I'd go with a yellow first too if I were you, sure, 473nm is a better color than 445nm but there's something different about yellow. Expect a review in a few weeks ;)

Yellow is so much more different from everything rather than blue and darker blue. That's why I'm going yellow first :) Then [hopefully] 510, then blue :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these are modified and/or binned CNIs.

Lasever used to rebrand CNI heads (along with their own drivers) back when they used to have issue after issue with their own green heads.

On top of that CNI's been dumping some of their heads (red and green) onto what may well be liquidators for cheap. That's how you can get 1W of green for around $700 on eBay. Either they (both CNI and Meierlight, who sells them) are making massive losses, or CNI is actually getting rid of them at much less than they're selling them from.

I wouldn't be surprised if CNI's started doing the same thing to their handhelds as well.

As far as I'm aware CNI hasn't licenced the host design out to anyone, so Lasever is either cloning or these are actual CNI units.

Just wondering, was that an accident that they didn't send out the pin and the keys or does it just not come with them? That would seem odd...

The pin and keys arrived seperately. I just had a spare key and a paperclip that worked just as well temporarily.

It it may have been an ex-CNI unit, it's the same host. However, CNI doesn't make their own hosts, they purchase them elsewhere I think, so it may be a possibility.

If you're right, Ocean, CNI better start doing this with their 589nm units. I've been bugging david @ lasever for a while

A little birdie in a tree once told me that CNI has exclusive rights to that host design.

As far as I'm aware they haven't licenced the host out to any other firms.
