Okay folks - this is the real stuff right here - I am gonna hit you with the quick and dirty specs, and let YOU check this sucker out - man is it beautiful ! Here is the specs - it is a Pen-Style laser, 808nm IR, takes 2 AAA batteries, like a standard CNI pen does, NiMh are recommended simply because of the cost factor, but alkaline, and Li-ion primaries are okay in this laser as well. It has a locking tail cap - which prevents emissions in the event of an accidental button push - which for this laser, could be catastrophic ! It also has a red LED that lights up when the power is enabled, and the laser is operating - an excellent emission indicator in my mind - that way you don't even THINK of looking down the barrel to see if anything is glowing or not ! If that light is on, your goggles should be also ! The recommended duty cycle is 60 seconds on, and 20 seconds off. This laser is very well heat sinked, but you will greatly extend the life of the laser by following those guidelines. Another thing about this laser - Goggles made SPECIFICALLY to block IR wavelengths are not only recommended, but you will be unable to purchase this laser from the vendor without also purchasing goggles. I think that is an excellent policy, and even if I didn't know the vendor personally - I would say that is a VERY smart move. The vendor is Pseudonomen137 - he consistently goes out on a limb to purchase direct from CNI and others to try to bring in the highest quality, and affordable lasers, and this time he went above and beyond and invested in some IR lasers for resale, to carefully screened customers. Don't expect to be able to purchase one of these lasers if you tell him, I want to melt my ex's tires from a stoplight without being caught - well...maybe ? No ! That is up to him - my job is to test and review this laser to inform you all what he has to offer, and then you and Pseudo can hash out the details. I will be answering questions about the lasers themselves, and items related to my testing of them - everything else goes to Pseudo ! Okay, enough lecturing - you all want to see this laser, what it looks like, and a brief demonstration of some raw power from it ! So, without further ado - here are some pics of this most excellent looking laser....
Okay - I lied....FIRST, the goggles !
Another Goggle shot, showing the OD rating -
The Sticker on the outside of the box - Oh, man - my hands were almost shaking when I opened this box - this is pure excitement right here...I have been waiting to physically see one in person for a loooong time...and here's my chance :
Here is what lies in waiting inside that box - note the keyed tail cap at the end of the laser....
Okay, THAT was enough teasing, don't you think ? Now for a tiny taste of the good stuff.....a two-part video showing off just one of the many uses for this laser -

I will be posting more pictures tomorrow, as well as more videos - I will show off some of the other thermal experiments you can perform, as well as try to lase some NDYvO4/KTP Crystals - just to see if I can make green outta this bad boy !
