Hi guys

I'm pretty sure not many have seen the insides of a Rigel pen so I decided to operate and extract the delicate module, The idea is to build a custom host for this module a one of a kind.

CNI has definitely built these pens very well, not only is there glue all over the threads but after they slide the main module in they glue the driver support so the driver and button won't come loose and then insert a smaller brass tube through the rear to stop batteries rattling also with glue,
The crystal containing the neodymium is mounted Obove the Cmount 808 and isn't removable, it's either glued on top or it's one piece and it's under the module so the driver would need to be desoldered, then there's the adjustable NdYV04 through 3 tiny little holes to push it in perfect alignment from the outside, this alignment needs to be so spot on that if not there is nothing but IR or a little green, Very nicely constructed! Then there's the KTP crystal witch just screws in straight from the end and the glass collimating lens is adjustable on the end and don't forget the IR filter witch is glued on the inside of the end cap,

I'm afraid there is no other way to extract this module but to sacrifice the brass pen and peal it like a sardine can!

The pump diode looks to be a small copper Cmount, I'm not sure how powerful it is probably 1w, I've only had it on for 5 seconds at a time and it don't get that warm,

I've turned up the current just a tad on the driver pot to get a little more output, it seems perfect were I have it know, a little more and very unstable mode hopping.

A custom alloy-brass 593-594 host coming soon thanks!

^Yeah, I was just thinking about that actually. Thanks for showing us though billy too! Very expensive module, so make sure it's in a worthy host :D

Great, been wanting to see what is inside. Might it be possible to get your hands on a zoom microscope and get some real close up photo's of the crystal assembly?

Excellent dissection surgery--good photos--nice job--thanks for doing and sharing.

Looks like the old green laser I took apart same driver and internals.
Good luck realigning that OC.

That's great, Billy. Since you have access to the driver, it might be a good idea to heat sink the output transistor at the very least. This could increase your run times and keep the driver output from running too hot.

Very simple but effective driver, did you see the video already realigned it a few times know, very sensitive but very nicely designed, 3 small holes to push and align, dosnt take a genius!

I wish I could buddy, tried to take decent pictures but these parts are so small and honestly had some luck in the dissection I could have scratch an optic very easily, These guys are making a killing with all the parts and modules on hand it wouldn't take them very long to assemble one even though they say 7 days to build!

I noticed you asked how to turn the pump diode power up on this driver. See the little pot near the edge of the board? It's next to the switch. That's it. I noticed it mode hoping a lot during the YouTube video, so be careful increasing the pump diode power.

Thanks Paul, really that pot turns up the power!!!!

Oh man I asked if anyone knows witch direction increases pump diode man not how cmon.

Ok maybe I didn't word it right,
Witch way would make sense to turn!!

I'm not familiar with this particular driver, but all the ones I have done are increasing in the CCW direction. You should be able to tell by measuring the power while turning it a little in one direction, then a little in the other. The power meter will show you which way is correct.

Yeah my LPM isn't mw sensitive, but I'll work it out I think CC wise also!

Well here is a much better and stable alignment of the module, much happier with the outcome now!

Nice the green one I had I was never able to get realigned I could get it to lase easy but every time I tried to tighten down the set screws on the OC i would lose the alignment.
