It happens. I still have crystals from 1W 532nm CST laser , but they need at least 10W IR diode, as I tried to use 3W and got nothing.

Wow, I really thought a 1 watt laser would have a crystal more than twice that size. I read they can be that small for that power, but I've never seen them for a one watt laser or had anyone tell me what size they had in theirs, most of us don't open our pointers to see when that high power, of course.

There was a F-Mount laser Diode pumping those crystals. So possibly it could be near 10W of 808

The most important part of setting up the pump diode is to get the beam waist within the Nd:YVO4 crystal. At that small size that can be a challenge. I would think a 5 watt pump diode would be sufficient for a 1 watt 532nm laser.

Thank you, I will try that:)
I have 3watt diode, I expect at least 500 mw out of it.

Thanks for pointing, very useful information for me. I will let you know if I succeeded to do something with those.

Intresting beam path here, after YVO is significant angle to lens and KTP.

Interesting laser. Are you sure this uses Nd: YVO4 and KTP crystals? Do you have it up and running yet? If so, what kind of output power do you get?

I get stable 1400mw. I’m not sure about those crystals, I opened this laser for 10 seconds just to take photos. I really like how it’s made. Never seen light goes 30° out of crystal.
Also: diode is up side down.
If those crystals are hydroscopic, was it okay for laser to be open, under standard room environment. Not much humidity.

It's called a folded cavity. From Sam's Laser FAQ:

No, yours isn't side-pumped and doesn't have a Q-switch. This is merely to illustrate the general concept.

You are ballsier than I am. I have a 1300 mW labby, but have never taken the head apart as it is pretty well sealed from the air. None of the crystals are hygroscopic, so they won't pull moisture out of the air. I have a thing about not messing with working lasers like yours and mine.
