500mW RGB Laser Projector

Nobody wants a full color RGB for 700 huh? well I guess I will just throw it away then.....or maybe I will try to compact the entire thing into a handheld version. Where is that wayne szalinski character.

Oh my god why are laws so annoying I could have this in my hands at the moment but then customs comes along and steals all the fun stuff from your over-sea packages then they eat them.

:(

EDIT: would you be able to shine this in to a crowd of people?

@yobresal: throw it on the marketplace of the german laserfreak forum. I bet there are some ppl interested in a bargain like this.

Or try photonlexicon ...

@ EKU You never want to shine lasers into a crowd of people. That is a BIG no no. As for customs eating my lasers, I am pretty distrought over that situation as it is costing me thousands of dollars. I would appreciate a little sensitivty in the matter.

why don't you just send it to me rather than throwing it out, I'll take care of it, promise ! :D

EDIT : Of course, I would be willing to pay shipping :D

This is such a good price, the blue module is well worth that alone! I wish I could buy it, but I definitely do not have $700. If I did, I would buy this. It's a killer price.

Okay so for the bastards that wanted pictures of the insides here you go. I just love taking this thing apart and putting it back together again. Yep I love it alright. Couldn't get all the screws to line back up so there might be a couple missing now. Not my problem.

I must say this is an awesome deal.. only problem for me is that the power you measured seems to be worryingly low. You shouldn't be losing that much power!
I would buy it on the spot, but with 100mW red and 40mW blue.. you don't get very visible beam shows. I also saw you mentioned that "I can already tell though that the alignment of these lasers is a little nasty. It isn't noticeable in the air and non-laserist can't usually tell but on the wall it is very obvious to me."
Hmm.. I will have to think. A lot!

I took care of the laser alignment issue. That quote is a very old one. The lasers line up perfectly now. The beams look great with a fog machine. I am not claiming this laser to be anything other than what it is. I tested the outputs of the lasers and posted the results despite the fact that they proved this projector to be way underspec for what I paid for it. Also it is not like they are losing power, I never posted a measurement of the outputs before and after optics so that is a conclusion that cannot be made at this point. I am not trying to scam anyone and I would have mentioned the misalignment if it was still an issue. If you think that I am trying to fool anyone here just ask any member of this forum as to how I conduct transactions. As for the lasers output, yes they are low. Hence the $700 price.

I am not accusing you in any way of trying to fool someone here, you have been extremely honest and I know of your good reputation!
My problem is simply that I already have a nearly finished RG scanner, and I simply need to buy the labby lasers themselves.. I wanted 200mW green and 500mW red. However, this is a brilliant deal, so I have to think a lot about whether I should jump in on this one despite lower powers (but with a blue!!), or stick with my first project.. the cost is almost equal.

Those stickers on the laser modules scare me......the Non-Factory ones....They remind me of the laserworld cni modules that they(laserworld) "mislabel" at their factory and then sell claiming them to be 50mw(or whatever).... I would love to see a power reading with the meter directly against the module and not through optics.

Yeah I hear ya. I never like seeing different labels on modules other than those installed by the manufacturer. Extreme lasers does that too. This is mostly an issue when you do not know what the actual output of the laser is VS the labeled output. In this case you know the actual output is less than the labeled output so there is no question about it. I am done trying to sell this laser. I am not opening it back up or taking any more photos/reading. If someone wants this steal it is theirs. If not I'll keep it. This is a better than fair offer. Take it or leave it.

Ooooh.

This is of course a fully functional, completely working scanner, plug in DAC and plugs and away you go, right? Did you build it or did you buy it as it is? (I'm guessing the latter)

This really is an amazing, amazing deal. Shame I only have a DAC that goes to 12kpps, so if I want full functionality I'll have to upgrade. But that's no problem ;)

I know this isn't a powerful unit, but I'm more interested in animations than beam shows anyway, so that's no real concern to me. I have another scanner I can use for beam shows.

Put me down as a very interested party. However, since I do live in Australia that will incur absurd shipping costs, as such I'm prepared to pay $800 USD. If that still won't cover safe (doesn't have to be fast, just safe) shipping for this thing, I am prepared to pay more.

Yes this is fully functional. Let me calculate shipping to AUS and see what that is going to cost. I will have to weigh it when I get home from work to get an accurate estimate.
