If that's the case then these would be worth it a $5 a piece. 500mW of any laser light is worth $5! The only problem for most would be goggles.
We can get them from psudonomen137 (I spelt it right, right?) for $85

DO A GROUP BUY!
nope it's pseudo, and also DL has them for $30
DL's goggles aren't certified, and after what they've done in the past I wouldn't trust those goggles. Plus, their description scares me:
Feartures:
Best quality and prices on the market.
Comfortable style frame.
Large frame, can be worn over other glasses.
The laser beam dot is clearly visible. The dot on a 500mW IR laser better not be visible through those goggles!
High visible light tramission, objects do not appear dark.
Crush and break proof material, very durable.

aren't c-mount diodes hard to focus, especially when your focusing IR

They're not really any more difficult to focus vs normal can lasers, unless you mean by the fact that you can't just buy an axiz module for cmount diodes and slap it in :P

You need a short FL asphere to focus to the most defined line, than a cylinder lens to turn it into a squarish dot.
