So I was thinking about getting a 470nm but I was wondering... Does anyone know the max power you can SAFELY push one too? What wattage is the highest you can push without being at risk of frying your laser?

I drive my NUBM07E at 4.5A, in my opinion it is definitely worth it for the distinctive color. When pushing it this hard it can look almost cyan. It should be about 5W.

Depends on whether you want duty cycle or pure power. They also shift to a brighter blue at higher powers. The downside of course is risk of it dying and you don't get much of a duty cycle. My 5W build from Alienlaser can only be used for like 30-40 seconds before it needs to cool for a minute or two.

It was supposedly set at 5A, which would explain why the color is indistinguishable from my old DPSS 473nm.

razako I was gonna get mine from the same place.. I was just deciding what I wanted it set at... How do you like yours set at 5A? Have you had it a while? How has it treated you?

If you wanna play it 'safe' I'd recommend 3.5A which will net you 4.7W at 466nm. 4.4A will net you 5W at nearly 470nm. Personally, unless you really care about the blue being super bright I'd recommend the 3.5A for longevity and duty cycle. It's the best ratio of input power to output with the least waste heat.

I like mine, but I really do wish it had a little more stamina sometimes. I've probably put around 30 minutes of total use on mine and it seems to be doing fine. I am VERY respectful of the duty cycle, usually turning it off after 30 seconds or so. I'll probably get a more conservative 3.5W PL-E pro from jetlasers in the GB so I can have a NUBM07E with endurance.

Thanks for the input... I'm gonna take your advise cause that's exactly what I was thinking.. I don't wanna drop that much money on a laser and have it fry on me... I've never owned anything over 1.2 watts so 4.7 sounds just fine lol... 3.5A it is.

Here it is with my 25mm zoom lens.

All are @ 3.5 amps and it makes lots of waste heat at 3.5 amps, at more than that color shifts but mine is 4 watts you can get 5 watts but after that it's just a little more color and a lot of heat, way too much heat in my opinion.

I like the G7 in the 5mm long holder from SANWU for how it looks, you have to turn it on and off to adjust it because there's no focus ring, I suppose a G2 would be best but the line would be wider than the 3 element/G7 but the Gball is pretty but a large spot, 1 inch by 2 inch spot at 15 feet with the Gball, the G2 is better.

I would go G2 over 3 element on this one.

This is the G7 in 5mm holder.

3.5a looks great, you could go to 4a but I would stop there unless you are going to use a big heat sink.

Running the NUBM07E at 3.5a to get 466nm - is it really that different in color than a 445, does that make it worth the more expensive diode?
I'm looking into using one of these for my first build, probably going to purchase the NUBM07E with driver installed already from DTR.

Totally. 20nm is a very noticeable difference. 445nm looks like a bluish purple while 466nm will actually look blue.
