is it safe or will it work if i power a 445nm laser using a red lab laser driver? or does the driver have to be specific for a 445nm laser? i am thinking about using a 1w 445nm laser diode.

thnx.

We need more details about this driver in order to help you like what current and voltage it takes and what voltage it supplies.

Still it is unlikely. 445nm needs higher voltage, and also generally higher current.
I tried feeding 445nm diode with red dilda driver .. it worked .. but not very well. The driver overheated soon, and it only gave about 100 mW.

What you have in the link is a red module, not a driver. If you were going to spend $31 anyways, I would recommend just getting a Flex drive V5 with the current preset to 1250 mA. That will cost you $27 + $3 for shipping, and is a proper and safe driver for 445 diodes.

Here is a link to the Flex drive. http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_diode/Micro_FlexDrive.php

He will be out of stock for about a month

Peace,
dave
