the handheld uses an 18650 battery as a driver and power source and a heatsink i machined with deep fins to cool the diode so not to much sophistication goin on there.

the labby uses a press fit heatsink i machined and the driver is bolted to the aluminum case. i have a fan from the xj projector cooling both the diode and driver. this allows me to power the unit at 1.43 amps nonstop. ran this all night and the unit was still cool to the touch.
i have a key lock on the side and a emergency stop safety switch on top.
last but not least you'll notice the rheostat on the top. thats not for the fan, thats to control modulation of the flexmod so i can vary the output from 400ma to 1.43a.
