I do not understand how to hook this up exactly. I know the - + at the top connect to laser diode but don't I need a negative input from the battery somewhere? I tried to using + but it didn't work? What am I doing wrong...

First picture top center pad appears to be the negative for battery. It has a - right under it. Right above U1. It also has the same type Dot on it like the negative for the LD. Have you built a test\dummy load? Do you have a dmm? Is the pot turned all the way off/down? Does it ohm out?

This is how it is currently wired. The two wires on the left are going into the diode. Am I missing something?

You were not consistent with your wire coloring. You have negative as purple/black on the LD side and you have it opposite on the battery side. I have heard that switching polarity can destroy things.
Also edit your prior posts to avoid double posting. (I'm not trying to be rude, I have seen other threads where mods/admins give out warnings)

Yea I know. I soldered the wrong wire to the positive but did not hook it up to the battery that way so the polarity didn't change. I'm just not sure why this laser isn't lighting up. I can plug in the battery and get a .1v at the diode output with the battery is hooked up. Something seems to be adjusting the voltage incorrectly.
 
That is a boost driver from Lily Electronics and has no reverse polarity protection.

Potentiometer?

Checked it seems to work ok. I'm not an electrical expert but I thought I was following everything correctly. With this board I should be able to wire the diode into the board and connect the battery and it should light up right?

You didn't power this on and test it with your DMM without having it connected to a test load or to the diode did you? You can only do that with a linear driver only.

I wired everything up plugged it in correctly no light. connected the DMM to the diode outputs and got a reading of .1V
