I've seen my friends kids play with the boxes, and paper, more then their toys on Christmas. Then I seen my spoiled 10y nephew got well over $800 in presents, maybe more, and cry like baby because he didnt get a PS3. I wanted to slap my brother in the face.
Lol,
I have pics of my kids playing in boxes on Christmas morning. I do spoil them too much, but I monitor their attitude and if they start acting like that, they get cut off fast.
My son is a bit more able to handle spoiling without taking it for granted. I asked him to help me put together some chairs when he was three and he actually made a real effort to unwrap parts and lay them out and at the end I paid him $4 for helping me. I made a big production out of it and told him some of the things he could buy (candy, etc) and he took two of the dollars and said, "I'm going to give one to Sammie" (His little sister.)
I said, "No way, she didn't help!"
He still gave her half of his money though.
SHE would have kept it all! Haha.
