is the the right 3 ohm resister to use from radioshack.
3.3K ohm 1/2W 5% Carbon Film Resistor pk/5
Model: 271-1122 | Catalog #: 271-1122

i am changing from the 2 10ohm

The right resistor to use for what? was that two 10-ohm, or was that 210 ohm?

right now my driver has 2 10ohm's in it. and i want to change it for a 420 ma. i was told i just need to change the resistor to one 3 ohms resistor

Nope... those are 3300 ohms (the k refers to a 1000x multiplication factor).

Radioshack doesn't carry many low-ohm resistors, so you may have to use a potentiometer to get that low, or order from a parts supplier.

Some of us, like me, order parts regularly, and could probably order some and mail them to you rather easily. I'm not sure when I'm ordering more yet, though.

the build i have has a 25-Ohm 3-Watt Rheostat on it now. can you send me a link to a good driver to build for a 420ma.

No worries at all :-) Post what you find out, and your eventual decision. If you do not mind the small wait (patience pays off !) go look on Fleabay for, "Resistor Girl" she ALWAYS ships fast, is kind, courteous, and just plain a pleasure to deal with ! If she has ANY negative feedback, it is BS from a scammer - she is the genuine article, that you can depend on for delivery of items !! <not a paid endorsement !! LOL !!!!>

good thing you posted that. i was about to buy a 1/2 watt resistor. i see you linked a 1 watt resistor. i will order from them now

Do you need a 1 watt resistor? Considering the I^2xR losses, you must be getting a high voltage drop on the resistor.
Mike

now all i need to do is wait for my parts. and see if i want to stay with the 6 aa batterys or upgrade to 3.6v ones.
