Got bored friday so i scraped together some old used parts to make this......
I filled the aixiz module hole with solder, and carved a new hole by hand with an xacto knife to make a thru-hole, and then a slightly larger flat head screw driver to make a lip for the diode to sit in....it actually worked out rather well.
First attempt the diode sat at a bit of an angle, so i slid it back out a little, and then repressed with with the back end of the aixiz module to get it to sit evenly.

This laser is made with a used dorcy jr heatsink which i filed down by hand to get it to fit inside the host.

A USED fixed current rkcstr driver, and 2x 14500 batteries.
The rkcstr driver is only set at 250mA because i have no idea what these diodes can push.....i Haven't noticed any heat during duty cycles though so i assume 250mA is low for this diode.

OH, this host in the video is my next upcoming kit ;)

right after i had set it, solder dust all over the place. I had to snip the unused pin to get the driver in the right position. The pins are so close together i couldn't get the driver in between them.

Any idea what this is out putting? I know that Dave was messing around with one of these but really didnt do a whole lot with it, as i remember. It will be interesting to see what these are capable of.

Nice work, Mo.

Mine was stolen before I got a heat sink made for it.

I am sure it will take more current than that. It is at least a 18X

However, I do not know if you want to push it or not.

You may have the only one of these working today ;)

Peace,
dave

i've no clue of it's output... as you can see it will burn the black foam, though it's not that impressive.

yeah i was thinking that. i couldn't recall hearing of anyone with a red pointer from the 3.8mm diode....

i prob won't be doing much experimenting with it....planned on selling it off for like $30, someone may already have dibs on it depending on if they want it or not.
