I have found a couple 24X burners in the $20 range, now I doubt that the extra ~$12 is worth it, seeing as we're still stuck on 20X, but is there any info on these? I heard they were flat reds, which I already have about 3 or 4 of just sitting here with nothing to do with them, is there anything else known about them? I'm thinking of picking up 5 or 6 super cheap DVD burners simply because I like taking things apart, and that's more fun to take apart than a simple sled, and I'm getting some EXTREME cabin fever with nothing to do...not even lasers to build as I have no hosts or diodes or anything. So anyway, what's known about these 24X diodes, and are they useful?
some incite of the severity of this cabin fever, I was actually EXCITED about packing up 10 sleds for someone, and an SMOC diode. I got so excited that I individually wrapped them each with static resist bags, then thick paper towel, and tape. All 10 of them. then labeled them to have more to do, and then wrapped the diode in a bag, put it in an anti static box, and scotch taped it, and labeled it. Then orderly put each type of sled in a group, and laid these groups flat in a ziplock bag, took out all the air, and then packed it. I did everything I could to extend the process and offer good packaging, and I was having a blast doing it because my hands have been without work for so many months. I also labeled the bag with it having 10 sleds, 4x PHR with diode, 4X without, 1X GGW, 1x 815, and 1 diode, 1x SMOC (red). I NEED something to take apart!
