I have a lg drive with a 22x dvd burner diode. My question is how to take care of it, do I need to wear antistatic strap, how many ma I should drive it to and what pins are positive and negative.
Thanks!!!

pinout and current would be the same as an lpc diode just search around. harvesting can be a pain... take the drive apart and remove the laser lens. once you do that find the diode(s). i think most of the 22x are LOC diodes as well so you should be able to tell the difference in the diodes.

I took out the dvd diode and its loc, it has four pins that are in paralel. It has some glass on top of heatsink. I dont know how i can take it out of the heatsink. The heatsinnk has hole in shape of x and the pins are going out from that x.

here are the pics

Or this is cd diode? :P
i see that 650 nm diodes have 3 pins.

i will post other photos

If it's got 4 pins, it is probably the IR diode. Is there another diode in the sled somewhere? ;)

Peace,
dave
