200mw red laser suddenly went dim?

Hello, I just got my 200mw red laser today and it was working fine at first and it just suddenly went dim. I did follow a duty cycle and I really don't know why it just went dim but I did switch out the batteries with a different mAh (2400 mAh then a 3000 mAh) and they were both 3.7v batteries. Thank you in advance

I also tried 3 different 3.7v fully charged batteries and it was still the same with the dim red light. I know it's not the batteries, because my 405nm 200mw laser works flawlessly with them.

Sounds like your laser diode "LED'd" or in other words is probably
putting out just a few mW at best, strange for a new laser, maybe you just
got a very poor diode. Unfortunately the only thing you could do is
replace the diode if this is the case. Where did you get it from? You may
be able to send it back...

Secondly, I see you are from Dawson Creek, great memories gold panning
up there a few years back, I bet it takes forever to get your mail??

I'll see what I can do and I got it from Elecday. Great site by the way as this is the only laser that failed on me.

Oh and It's always nice to hear from people sharing stories about Dawson =). And at minimum it takes 2 weeks for them to get here so it's actually not that bad.

What does the laser look like? Maybe it wasn't sufficiently heatsinked.

That's exactly what the host is but I couldn't really find a picture of the driver and other stuff. I never even kept it turned on for more than 30 seconds and went dim in less than an hour of receiving it. :(

Sounds like you just got a bad one,
I would try to return it and get a
replacement. The quicker the better
on these sorts of things.

same exact thing happened to me last week, a 100 mw green Hulk from Dragonlasers - put batteries in, turned it on for 10 seconds, extremely bright beam, turned it off and turned it on again, to a very dull beam which would fade out to nothing. The laser is now on its way back to China and I have to wait for a replacement

I just got my laser yesterday from Lazerer (500mW 405nm) and mine went dim as well. With this same EXACT host. :(
