Big IF though...I don't believe it until I see the original spec sheet! I will wait for the results of the testing on the Phaserdiode..

Their specific diode MIGHT take a direct drive from 2 aa's --------- - - - - But I doubt it. Maybe half dead cells.

It may actually work, same with the GB diode. It takes around 2.9 volts at 160 mA controlled current, so that would work out the other way around too. Drop in a couple of too-fresh alkalines or e2's and it'd be instant poof though

I have one of the supposed 200mW 650nm diodes from Aixiz. It fits into their housing, but it's loose and half rectangular. Anyway, I don't have a calibrated meter to test it. If everyone wants a test of it, I'd have to lend it to someone with the proper test equipment.

DDL, please let me know what you find out about the AixiZ LD. I have one of these in my DIY laser torch that I made according to your specs...and it can light a match at 13 feet. This is 2.85 volts at 254ma. If this diode can be ran at higher ma rate, I sure would like to know!

Honestly with all the things I have going on I'm loosing my mind and forgetting sleep.

I will honestly try my best to knock it out and send it back to you ASAP.

I don't want to ruin the diode for you, so all I'm going to do is test it's output at different current ratings and that should do the trick of comparing them. If in fact they are the same as the ones I got a hold of, this would be a much nicer deal as they are in singles and are very comparable in price
