It may actually work, same with the GB diode. It takes around 2.9 volts at 160 mA controlled current, so that would work out the other way around too. Drop in a couple of too-fresh alkalines or e2's and it'd be instant poof thoughTheir specific diode MIGHT take a direct drive from 2 aa's --------- - - - - But I doubt it. Maybe half dead cells.
DDL, please let me know what you find out about the AixiZ LD. I have one of these in my DIY laser torch that I made according to your specs...and it can light a match at 13 feet.
