Hello, im a new member here and im from Germany. My name is Hans-Joerg and befor 2 month i owned a cheap 5mW Laser pointer from China. And as time goes by i was wondering how bright it is. And it was a moment of having a powerful light in hand and a visible laser light in the night up to the sky. So i decidedd to buy a "big" Laser. First i wanted a green one with about 2 W. But it seems that its not payable and so i owned a 2000mW blue one for about 200,- €. The model is a LM 820.

High power Blue laser 2000mw burning cigarettes LM-820 ? Blue laser pointer

It took only 2 days to deliver it because of the fast way delivery. I wondered that no one asked about it because of the high power, but only 2 days later it was in my hands. The Power is awesome. It burns matches within seconds, also wood or paper or cd plastic. In the night it is great to watch the blue beam up to the sky. I am very carerfully in using this product! I am 45 years old and i have of course glasses. And i know about the risk with airplanes! So you dont have to tell me. It is a very powerful thing where you have to take much care!!!!

Ordered from the site you posted before. It´s an awesome shop with good service / communication and great prices!

Wanna share some pics Hans-Jörg?

Yes, of course! But i have the problem with web space.... Do you have a good hoster?

Before buying that great laser i ordered a laser pen and a 200mW modul from deal extreme, but the modul didnt worked good so i had the odysee to send it back. Took about weeks to get the money back, but that wasnt the fault from deal extreme. No i ordered a 70mW modul via ebay and its great in the little handheld pen with 2 AAA batteries, but it takes only a few minutes to kill the batteries....

that's a pretty good price for a rifle clone, I think. not all the specs are accurate on the site though, for example, I promise it's transverse mode is not TEM00, I also suspect it's driven at more than 1A (1000mA). I see no duty cycle is listed, I'd leave if off for every minute it's on. (1 min. on/1 min. off) or you could damage it. I saw you know about safety, so forgive me if you already know this but the safety glasses are needed even when vieing the dot at near distances.

I suspect the batteries it came with are not great, here are some links to some types that I think most would agree are better. the laser you have says it takes two 16340 and it does, but I find for mine that two 18350 batteries fit much better, they are about 2mm wider and 1mm longer. I should say also that using 18350s for a while in mine has made the 16340s not fit as well anymore, giving me connectivity lapses. IMR batteries will provide higher discharge rates which your laser probably doesn't need, (but won't hurt it) but they'd be handy to have in case you ever get for example a high power 532nm laser that needs lots of current. a high power 532nm will need more current than a 445nm diode laser due to the inefficiency of the DPSS process.

Here are the IMR 18350s:AW IMR 18350 700mAh LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Here are the IMR 16340s:AW IMR16340 550 mAh IMR CR123 size LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Here are the ICR 16340s, what I use:AW RCR123a Protected 750 mAh Battery

Thank you for your help! No Problem about the Safety tip, cant Tell to much. I use the Laser only for Short Time because of the temperature. And because of the Problem with the High power. Yesterday i switched it in to burn a Match and the Laser was on the table fixed and i First didnt noticed that a picture at the Wall about 5 mtr. Ago was beginning to burn. so i only use it about seconds, and Take Time between usage for the temperature. Its a great tool and it Would be interesting how much it really have. But a power Meter is so expensive!

Shakenawake, good advices, but lighthound won't send batts to Europe.

IMO for cheaper lasers the cheap batts work totally fine. For high quality lasers, as your RPL is, I would only feed it with the best suitable batts available.

Lmlasers is the lazerer supplier btw.

"Lmlasers is the lazerer supplier btw"

What does it mean?

What is the cheapest Way to Buy a power Meter?

Oh, well that stinks lighthound won't send to europe. thanks for teaching me where lazerer gets their rifles, I have seen these lasers all over the place, though usually 1W or 1.5W, not 2W

Lmlasers is the lazerer supplier means that this site:http://lazerer.com/rifle_445nm_1.5w_focusable_blue_laser_pointer

gets their rifles from the site you got your laser from, Hans-Jörg

btw means By the way

also, I've been considering getting a LPM too, this looks good, it'd be a bit over $400: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/5-watt-laser-power-meter-50226.html

Thank you very much for your declarations. Hmmmm, there is no 2 W Laser in blue. It Would be very interesting to know how much power the Laser really have. But 400$ for a power Meter? Perhaps someone live Here Near Frankfurt with a power Meter...?! Is there amorpher Way to get an answer? How fast it Burns Wood or Something Else?

There is no One Near my Location, no One from Germany. Last Time i See the Map there was a Person Near Alzey in Germany, but now there is no One. OK, Thanks for your answers, its Great to be Here and i will take a look at the other Threads, members and the cool Lasers. :-)

You can also send it to me - backshipping would be EUR9.90
