This meter is capable of accurately measuring all Lasers from 1mw to 5 watts in 1 mw increments. The Ophir OEM thermopile features a large 12mm aperture broadband absorber and has a damage threshold of over 20 watts!

It also features an integrated Ophir designed amplifier that is very sensitive
and requires no zero adjustment control.

The power supply designed into this meter is built for World Wide use
and requires no adapters to use it from 100 up to 240 volts at either 50 or 60 Hz. It incorporates a transformer less design by utilizing all switching
supplies in the power circuit.

The entire meter uses only 60ma in operation and generates no wasted heat
so it can be used with a car adapter or battery pack as described in Jayrobs
review. In which on AAA battery power would run for 20 hours!

Features:
True Ophir Thermopile
1mw to 5 Watt range
>20 Watts damage threshold
large 12mm aperture broadband absorber
World Wide power capability 100 to 240 volts 50 to 60 Hz
Can be used with DC supply
Choice of Red or Blue display color
24" shielded cable on thermopile with detachable DIN connector
Wood grain aluminum enclosure with rubber feet
4" tripod included
1 amp fuse is standard

Re: For Sale: Ophir Laser Power Meter by Nospin

I realize that these sensors easily pick up the heat from your hand if you get within a few inches of it. But After you told me that they were sensitive enough to pickup your body heat from a farther distance, I noticed that mine went up to 1mW while sitting on my desk in front of me...

It was about 2' in front of me, and I had it on for a few minutes when I noticed that it went from zero, to 1mW. So I turned it 90 degrees and it went to zero!

It was reading my body 2' away! I tested it a couple of times and this was indeed the case...

So I found that if you have the thermopile turned at a 45 degree angle (away from your body), it won't pick up your body heat from 2' away, and will go to zero...

OMG, that's amazing!

But hopefully the "disturbance factor" from external sources is minimal. It's hard to measure a 1mW LP is you happen to be holding it with your (warm) hand... :-/

Re: For Sale: Ophir Laser Power Meter by Nospin

Yeah I agree.... that's where the "Auto reset" seems to elude me...

If you are ready to shine a Laser onto the sensor while holding
it.. you would be close to it to be able to hit the exact center of the
12mm sensor. (at a greater distance it would be difficult to hold the
Laser's beam steady).

When I take a measurement... my identical OHIR 20C-A head increases
by 2mW. If I measure a low powered 10mW Laser it shows 2mW higher
than actual.
That is a 20% error on 10mW. I understand that with a 100mW laser..
2mW is only 2%...
But I would still think that a manual Zeroing control would still be a useful
feature...

Yeah for sure if your measuring by holding the laser near the sensor with your hand then it will be measuring a couple of mW's higher because of your hand...

Of course you can easily use something else to hold the laser, or even just subtract a couple of mW's...

Jerry

Its no error, When you expose the thermopile to calories of energy its job is to
measure them not differentiate between multiple sources

Send me your sensor and I will calibrate it for free

Re: New 5 Watt Laser Power Meter

Great news I jusy PMed you as well....

Found out that the OHIR Heads we have are all calibrated
differently near Zero... I saw a settling value of 0 to +8mW.
Also found a way of Adjusting to Zero on our Lites....

Thanks for your offer just the same....
