I know you can't buy a laser like this from a proper company but does anyone have any links to ebay lasers that are only "5MW" that can actually hit around 100MW? I know a bunch of people on youtube have got really cheap lasers that can hit around 100 mW.

Many of the 301 or 303 type cheap 532nm lasers found on ebay can achieve 100mW, none of them will reach 100MW.

Edit - I recently purchased a set of 3 (405,532, & 650nm) 303 style lasers for less than $16, the 532nm outputs 134mW.

There are no lasers on Ebay that are 5MW let alone are actually 100MW's. But if you do happen to find one for a cheap price let us know please. Golly, thinking how many balloons I could pop at once is giving me chills.

Could you link the set you purchased or the type of laser?

The set that I purchased was from this seller - https://www.ebay.com/itm/3PCS-50Mil...ointer-Lazer-Pen-Beam-Light-USA-/264261044920, however, I notice that it now shows that he is out of stock.

Here is a similar offer from another seller - https://www.ebay.com/itm/3PC-200Mil...azer-Pen-Visible-Beam-Bright-US-/323341430118

If you search ebay, you can find many more, especially if you are just looking for a single 532nm laser; I personally would buy at least 2, since the chances of these not working properly when you receive them is quite high.

Good luck!

Bowtie, it's funny I just just ordered a military type 532 and a silver host 532 from the same ebay seller..
I was dissapointed with my last military type as it only does 50mw, when RedC's same type's were doing over 120mw.
It's all about luck and will see..

I agree, it's a crapshoot with any of these low end lasers, but for the price, you can't hardly go wrong, at the very least, you've get an edc sized host to build with. ;)

I decided to buy a set of these 303's so that I would at least have some first hand knowledge of their quality, output, and construction.
These aren't generally the type of lasers that I'd buy, but they seem to have a continuing interest and following, especially with the newer members.

My experience in getting my 3pc set required three separate transactions, my first order came with zero working lasers; I returned the order for a full refund.
My second order contained two working units, the 532 and 650nm; the seller refunded my money without requiring a return.
My third attempt was to get a single 405nm that worked, and it was succesful, so I finally had my complete 3pc set of 405, 532, and650nm.

To their credit all the sellers that I dealt with were fair and accommodating and I had no problems with my refunds. :)

PS - good luck with your latest order.

Wow Jeff, i'm surprised at this stage you finally got some cheapie 303's..
I never got a 405 unit but the 2 532's and 2 650's I bought worked fine, although from what iv'e read the 405's can have issues. So you were on the unlucky side of the 50 - 50:( It's great they sent another unit 2 times..
I'm thanking the stars that the red 303's can take the battery's being put in backworks, at the time I couldn't find a polarity chart and I must of put the batterys in the wrong way 20 times till I figured it out.
We can go on all day about cheap labor in China but have to admit for the cheap money these 303's are surprisingly well put together.
Nice little AL heatsink, knurled focus knobs, and the key out back and a kinda hefty host. Not including the insides. One of my 532's I took apart even had a "pot" on the driver. I'm guessing not all have them and its also a luck.
True, the military one I have now shows promise if someone needs to mod the host and the back clicky is a good start. It screws apart nice in 4 places and I don't see any glue, only on the fixed lens and it also has a ok AL sink. When I get my 2 new ones i'm going to try to see how long I can run the one I have now and it's mod hopping. At 50mw it's a nice test I think??

How many mw's is your 405 doing?

Maybe the 301 and 303 style 532nm lasers are potentially better than they used to be. I never found one that hit 100 mW, much less over that mark. I have a few that came in at 50 mW up to 85-90 mW, but that was the limit. I would like to get a 134 mW one. Might have to buy some more soon.

I actually used a couple of different sellers for my second and third purchases.

My three lasers output were as follows:
405nm (112mW)
532nm (134mW)
650nm (100mW)

These are max. values, but the averages were still pretty good at about 90% of max. output.

@Paul, try again, if it's been awhile, you may get something a little higher now.

Just in Case the OP is not knowing.... there is a HUGE diff between 10mW and 10MW-
its milla vs mega---mw is even lower --- microwatt.

Yeah, it has been at least a year, maybe longer, since I purchased a 532nm 301 or 303 laser pointer. They are still pretty cheap, so I might just have to give that a try.

Just a tip, the expanding lense is glued cheaply. Take 2 part epoxy and go over the metal piece that holds the lense and sides of the expanding lense.
