hi this is my first driver i ever made i was woundering would this work for a blu-ray my 9 voilt batt is at 8.54 voilts and at the wires its reading 7.12 would this work if i get newer batt

It should work with that battery for a while. Are you using a 33 ohm resistor? The voltage on the output doesn't mean anything unless you have a load across it.

On the thread, linked to above by A-P-I, take special note of Post 7 from chimo, he suggests replacing the 4 diodes with 100ohm resistor when testing the circuit for blue ray LD's.

i put a 100ohm resistor on my two wires where i would hook up the diode for a dummy load and im getting 3.67 voilts and my batt is 8.31 voilts what do i need to do to make it higher for a br ?

Jake, remember we are more interested in the current. I have calculated it using your voltage measurement and resistor.

3.67 divided by 100 ohms = .0367 ma's. This is perfect, your driver is ok. Try doing this with different value resistors and see what you come up with.

i tryed it on a 150 ohm resistor it was 5.28v divided by 150 = 0.0352
and 10 ohm resistor was 0.38v divided by 10 = 0.038
and 15 ohm resistor was 0.58 v divided by 15=0.386
and 47 ohm resistor was 1.80 v

Yup, your driver is working. I am guessing the resistors you are using have a 5% tolerance which would explain the slight differences.

yea i think so could i use any 9v batt or is there a special kind every one uses

You can use any 9 to 12 volt battery. I honestly do not know how much higher than 12 volts you can go before the regulator begins to get too hot.
