So, as I was browsing eBay, I found this. Looks like a nice open can. Does anyone know what is that round PCB thingy on the pins?

LOL, that is not new. It is harvested from a DVD-burner. The wire connection is still hanging on the diode. It's look like a SOC, the bar in the middle is shorter than the LOC.

Well, I need a 135mW and 89mW red laser right now for various projects. I just wanted to see if it's not a rip-off.

135mW and 89mW red is no problem for this red diode. Look around for some 16x DVD-burners. They might have this diode inside.

I recalculated my projects and now I think I will go with Rohm RLD65PZB5 100mW closed can from OdicForce. (Now I need 99mW and 89mW.) It is a bit cheaper and OdicForce UK is closer to me than HK. Plus, it looks more reputable to me.

Why? I want only about 1/3 of LPC's power. Also, for the money one harvested LPC costs, I would get two of these Rohm closed cans. Since I live in Europe, the closed can will get to me faster than the HTD LPC.

Well i dint think that you wanted an already extracted one. The sleds at HTD coat $10.31 Bucks each.
HighTechDealZ - 650nm 20x DVD Burner LPC815 Sled

Also you can find a coupon for 10% off if you search on google for it. I cant remember where it is but its very easy to find.;)

You also would get cool optics from the 2 sleds as well as 2x 780nm ~250mW - ~300mW IR diodes out of the sleds as well as Free shipping.:)

ODforcue is an awesome company as well so either way you go its good.:)

If I'm going to ever build a red handheld laser (these closed cans will go into labbies for the purpose of beam combining) I will get a LPC. Thanks for your all answers!

NP. Good Luck.

What Projects are you working on.? They sound interesting.:)

Thanks for the interest! :) I'm working on a PWM modulated RGV laser from an empty PHR-803t and a yellow labby using dichro from Radiant Electronics. I will post some info on them when I reach some progress.
