12x S06j driving current?

Hey guys, I have been looking around and I have seen mixed opinions.

I have a small host, and the heat sinking will be the same if not less than that at of a C6. For a build like this, what's the max I could/should drive this diode? I want a duty cycle of AT LEAST 45-60 secs

Thanks for your help guys

450mA is a good current to drive a 12X S06J at. Mine is in a small RL118 Host, and another in an SH032 host and they both have pretty nice duty cycles.

EDIT: this is my 30th post today. I need to get a life and go outside and be productive lol. My day off is slowly slippin away.

450mA will probably be the best trade off of power vs. life/heat. I had one at that current in a Phobos host and it yielded unlimited duty cycle at 700mW.

What current would give me 700-800mw + with a semi-efficient (middle of the curve) diode?

Would 550ma work for that?

A semi efficient diode will not give you 700-800mW+ at 450mA. Pushing it that hard would really be a gamble. Also, note that a 405nm 12X at 450mA will give you 400-500mW. 600+ is really only going to be seen with either freak diodes or G2 lens usage.

Or if your unlucky, I get 500mw and 550mw with 2 diodes at 450mA and g2 lenses.

Ok so I'm going to use a G-2, so what milliwattage am I going to get, about, @ 550ma?

Honestly, at 550mA you're probably going to get a very expensive LED before too long. I wouldn't go above 500mA if you're not going to be ready to buy a replacement in weeks to months.

The thing about 12X's though, is that when subjected to high current, they tend to degrade very quickly. Many people notice that their 12X builds lose output over time fairly quickly when pushed too hard. The question is: is that laser he built still alive?

I'd assume so cause he hasn't updated his or thread saying that anything had happened to the diode.

I have an old style(black threaded) G2 lens that I used for less than 5 minutes with an M140 but switched back to the 3-element lens. I'll sell it to you for $35.00+ $3.00 shipping. PM me if interested.

Al right guys, looks like I am going to go with ~425ma

While I am here, does anyone have any 32600 or 22600 unprotected batteries they would be willing to give/sell to me?

REALLLY REALLLLY NEED ONE!! PLEASE!?
