Wow i diddnt know there red laser there that went above 5mw and that one has a full circuit nice now i just wonder how easy it would be to get the diode out without breaking it and put a gb one it because that looks like a real nice circuit to run it from some pretty big capacitors lol dont think spikes will kill this thing :p.

Aye.... I've just seen these too!

Nice price!
Obviously 2 of the wires are power, but what are the other 2 for?
Could it be TTL? I don't know what that is, but most big modules seem to have that now! AFAIK, its some control thing.... :-/
(I'd be grateful if someone could explain TTL to me!)

The green looks pretty heafty, do you think there could be a 100% duty cycle on that?
If I ever make a scanner, that would come in REALLY handy!!!

With that size of a heatsink on the green it looks like a labby i bet it prob does have unlimited duty cycle, unless the people who assembled it mistook it for a toaster and put bread slots on it and some heating coils in it then sent it to the next person and he then put the green diode and crystals and stuff,

Lol so it prob is unlimited unless ur the unfortuante one who got the toaster laser :p :p

Nice, does anyone know if that has TTL?

Can't you build yourself a 200-250mW red laser for like around $50? :p

The red one would be no better or cheaper than something you build yourself from a GB diode and handful of simple components.. but it does save you the work, obviously. The 'head' does look pretty small, and probably doenst cool it any better than an aixisz module with a little transistor heatsink mounted over it.

The green one seems a good deal, since you can hardly assemble those yourself (at least the crystals/optics part). I would love to see a more powerful version of that - the heatsink casing looks like that would be possible with a more powerful pump and/or better crystals.

As it is, for a 35 mW it isn't even that expensive, and i think it's a great deal if it performs well in terms of beam quality and power output really being 35mW.

Re: 100mw red $37.54 and 35mw green $59.99 dx modu

I just took delivery of the 35mW green module.  Laser output power was 20mW at 6V/320mA, out of the box.  Pretty disappointing but there was a trimmer potentiometer on the PS board that just begged for some tweaking....   slowing me down just a little was a copius amount of super glue applied to the adjusting screw.  After some careful picking and scraping with an Xacto knife, I managed to free it up.  I stopped adjusting at 100mW but there's room left to adjust it higher yet.  At 100mW, the current was 420mA.   There's was no significant heating of the head even after 30 minutes of continuous operation.  The  TTL modulation worked as expected also.

According to a reviewer on DX: "Not only a heatsinked pointer. Inside it has a bigger diode, and a bigger glued nd:yvo4+ktp crystal".

I havent taken this apart yet and probably won't for awhile but I'm duly impressed.  Not too bad for $59.99 green laser.

You cranked the green up to 100mw? :O

Any idea if this has a decent IR filter?

I was prepared to take one for the team...

No pain, no gain. :)

It appears to have one.  I used a piece of exposed and developed 35mm film negative to block the 532nm.  My thermal meter only picked up a couple of mW of residual power and some of that was green.  Also, none of my digital cameras pick up any significant IR leakage.   But, your mileage may vary... Yada, yada, yada...

FWIW, the beam kept burning and melting my film negative... :D

Thanks for that knimrod. I am thinking seriously about this laser for combining with a red. Sounds like for the price one can't go wrong.

I'm also very interested in one of these lasers if they can indeed handle running at 100mw for more than a few days without blowing up :)
