Hey guys. Wanted to show my first real build. I have many high power 445 but wanted something portable. I came across a wicked laser e2 host on ebay for $20. The seller contacted me and said because it didn't have a cap, he would refund me 14$, so for $6 I got my host. I decided I could cut off the threads and make it focusable unlike some pen builds I've seen. I contacted lazeerer for one of his x switch to replace the stock battery contact and driver. I happened to have a focus adapter that fit perfectly. I used the stock driver retainer with some modification and filing. I also had to shorten the module body so everything would line up x after cutting the threads. Well here she is putting out 1.2w with a 3 element lens! Run at 1.25a.

Thanks for looking guys. My first build was tedious but well worth it. Just need to anodize the focus knob :)

Very nice! What are your duty cycles like? And when/if you look to sell it. If I haven't built one I call dibs ;) I like how you got it focusable, not too many pens are. +1 if the system allows.

BTW - what color are you going to anodize the focus adjuster, black, or color coordinated with the beam?

I've gotta spread the love, but I read BowtieGuys post and at firs I thought, what other color aside from black would you do it. But then I thought back to a project I've got going on and a color matching focus knob would be neat.

What are your thoughts Tmack?

Very cool build man, WL hosts are the only thing good about their lasers. Good that you gutted one :D

I couldn't help but stop to think how good a deep blue would look too!! My original thoughts were black of course, but the blue would give it a certain something.

Thanks a lot for the compliments guys. This one was really worth the trouble. The driver was so perfect. Laseerer really made it well. I don't think I'll be throwing a g2 in it due to the nice output it has with the three element running at 1.25a. And cutting off the threads really turned out to be a good move. Loving this little thing. The button works clean and crisp with a nice click. Not too much pressure, it's perfect. And man did I luck out with the focus knob fitting like that. Very happy !!!!

Duty cycle is about two min. The sidewall is nice and thick and the warmth travels right down the host. I prefer to keep it down to 90second max just to be safe. After a little over a minute it's only a bit warm so I think I'll stop it there.

I got the idea of using the color coordinated focus adjusters from the Survival lasers site! :)

Need to get this atrocious sticker off of this thing. Just took it outside. It feels wrong getting this kind if beam from a pen!! Loving it. :D

And maybe a custom focus knob is now in order. I'd like to get one to perfectly match the grooves of the host. Any machinists watching up for it? Would need one to look like there is no focus adapter at all.

Awesome :beer: in regards to the focusing knob try have a look at survival lasers.

They've got some pretty slick looking focusing knobs that you can get anodized black or blue :)

Thanks guys. Ill check with the machinists here first to see if they can help me out. Rather go through the forum, if for nothing else then to show support. Plus I think the guys here could really match the host better then anyone else.

It's a coin flip between black and blue, but I think the way to go would be to almost hide the focus knob. The gap between the host and knob will be hidden by the slight groove in the focus adaptor. Have talked to a machinist and I think I have got just what I need soon to be in the making.
