Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

I use a secure shopping cart program that supports paypal and Googlecheckout. I will not accept any other payments. If you don't trust me then I am sorry to inform you that you are out of luck :(
It was not that I don't trust YOU, but rather that I did not trust the flakey free hosting service you were using on the original link. That site has a seedy reputation, and as I recall was often used by E-MAIL spammers & scammers as a landing page for fake pharmaceutical sales, porn pages, PayPal phishing scams, etc!

The fact that your pay page on that site was acting flakey also did not inspire confidence in its safety.

But regardless of what fancy s/w you are using, your original pay page had not been working for at least two days.

And was still not working last I tried it.

Under these circumstances, I found your response above to my request to PM me with alternative payment info rather unexpected. IMHO, providing a buyer in a GB with a PayPal addy to pay directly when they are having problems using a custom payment page is common courtesy, PARTICULARLY when the inability to pay is due to repeated problems on the seller's end!

In any event, I took a look at your new payment link today. I was prepared to pay you again today via your NEW link you provided, but when I went to a secure PC and tried to do so...

DAMNIT!

Your new "free hosting" service had TAKEN YOUR PAY PAGE DOWN! Even worse, they took it down because...

"You see this page, because the system administrator of 000webhost.com is currently checking this website for malicious content."
:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

This also raises the question, if the reason your prior pay page has been down for over two days, is perhaps your account was intentionally disabled by your prior hosting company?

I have been trying to pay you for two days now, without success, due to all of these problems at your end. I do not know what is causing all of these problems for you (perhaps your PC is infected, and you are inadvertently uploading infected files to these sites?)

What is particularly ironic, is that you have been complaining that this GB is being held-up, because ppl aren't paying you fast enough! :(

But giving me your PayPal addy as I originally requested is no great secret, as it was clearly visible by following the pay links in your new pay page (before your new hosting company took your pay page down!) Given these bizarre circumstances, I feel it is only prudent for members to pay via known safe means. Can I simply pay the exact same amount via PayPal's own site, to the exact same PayPal addy that your own site was sending it to anyway?

I don't get the big deal all we need is a PP user name to send as a gift.
Agreed.

I don't know about you, but seeing the words "malicious content" on a payment link does not exactly encourage me to want to whip out my credit card! ;) Why would anyone want to use that payment link, after something like that?

Particularly given the circumstances, PayPal's own site is a much safer method.

Particularly given the circumstances, PayPal's own site is a much safer method.

The payment page works, it's secure, and I have been using the same method since 2007. No matter how long the rant and how many big and bold words you use I am not changing that. It comes down to whether or not you are going to get your bargain sleds like the other 100 sleds that have been shipped out so far, or if you want to leave the GB prematurely. I am not giving you my paypal e-mail. There is a reason I want you to use the shopping cart, and that's that.

Once again, people fail to realize that I am NOT DOING BUSINESS. I make NO MONEY From this. This is a TRUE GROUP BUY. I am providing this service to the forum because I see the members on here as my family, and I care for my family. True, I do incur losses from time to time, but I have no problem with it. I also do not have any problem whatsoever if you want to not take advantage of this offer. I am not going to establish a customer-salesman relationship, because I am no salesman and you are no customer.

When you commit to this group buy, you should look over it and make sure you will go through with it. If you are sensitive about your credit card numbers, then check out the bolded payment page on the first post, and decide whether or not you want to do this. Also, paypal doesn't give out your credit card info, and I don't think you understand the following:

I use a Secure checkout software for the shopping cart. What this means is that the buttons are on my web page, but the transaction is processed from paypal.com's own webpage. that's where you enter login information and numbers. If you don't trust paypal's website or Googlecheckout's website, then I am sorry for you.

Now it comes down to this: do you want your sleds or not? If yes, then ok use the payment page. If not, then please do not participate in any of my future GBs.

Thank you.

/rant

As for malicious content, they regularly check new members and make sure the pages are clean. Hence the "admin is checking the site" message.
Problems on my end? That's cool, the host died, and now I take the blame. Way to make my day. I spent a bunch of time re-writing the payment page and finding a new host... I don't even know what to say at this point. I keep trying to close this page, but something else in your posts catches my eye and I just have to edit...

Me too. The worst thing they could do is send you a fake Paypal email. Its not to hard to figure out those are fake.

imnsho: Nobody has an excuse not to pay, regardless of whether another GB goes, refunds, or tanks!

When you commit to a GB, you are making an agreement with the whole group - an agreement that you should not take lightly nor back out of casually.

Not true. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least two ways -

A shady site hits your PC with a "drive-by", and then forwards you to PayPal. When you login, your PayPal info is then transmitted to the hacker.

This could happen even WITHOUT amkdeath's knowledge, if he was infected, or he was hosting his pay page on a shady server popular with hackers (he WAS).

A year or two ago, I got "tagged" by a drive-by zero-day exploit, so I have first-hand experience (unfortunately) just what these things can do!

Or, there are also technical tricks they can do to make it LOOK like it forwarded you to PayPal, when it sent you somewhere else instead. You enter your PayPal login, and that is then saved by the hacker.

PalPal even warns ppl about this, that is why they say if the link looks questionable, you should manually type-in their address into your browser's address bar instead.

Because so many ppl have a careless attitude about Internet security, these techniques have become INCREDIBLY popular with hackers & scammers. So much so, that it even has a popular name - "PayPal phishing".

Pontiacq5 said:

Pontiacq5, that's not how phishing works. How you find out you have been "phished", is sometime in the future, when your bank account is suddenly overdrawn, and you find out it is because your life savings had been sent to some guy in Bosnia!

Again, this could be done without AMKDEATH's knowledge, due to the incredibly bad choices he was making as to what sites to use for his pay page! :undecided:

The site he was using is very popular with scam artists, spammers & hackers, and has a VERY bad reputation as a dangerous place to visit! :scared:

See for yourself! -

Fake Viagra spammers -
viagra site:110mb.com - Google Search
Porn spammers (nsfw) -
cum site:110mb.com - Google Search

Even worse, the site he was using has a PARTICULARLY bad reputation for PHISHING exploits! It's like the #1 site for PayPal & bank account phishing!

So much so, that several phishing "hacker tutorials" specifically recommend would-be criminals to use the same site he put his pay page on!

The other site is not much better, indeed, on the "malicious content" page I got when I tried to pay AGAIN Friday, they even had a warning about how that site is very popular with scammers who use it -

"just to start hacking or phishing website or make other damage."
Nice. What's next, 4chan?

The payment page works
Not when I tried it several times Thursday. And not when I tried again to pay you on your "new" site Friday either. :(

it's secure
PayPal might be, but the site you were linking ppl to first is anything but! :eg:

and I have been using the same method since 2007
You keep saying that like it's suppose to impress me or something. I've been doing REAL web sites (not this free hosting crap) since the mid 90's! 2007? Hell, I've got SOCKS older than that!

But if you are such the expert, answer me this -

Why are you hosting your pay page on known scumbag/hacker sites? :tsk:

I spent a bunch of time re-writing the payment page...
Um, forgive me, but it appears you simply copied the payment page to the new server?

In fact, you didn't even bother to update it to point to the new host! -

name="site_url" value="http://amk123.110mb.com/SF.htm"

name="return_url" value="http://amk123.110mb.com/SF.htm"
Which also appears to be re-directing ppl to that dangerous 110mb instead after they paid?

Was that intentional, or simply carelessness on your part? Either way, why should that make us trust our online shopping safety to your programming abilities???

they regularly check new members
I can understand if a server that is popular with unsavory characters might review new sites before bringing them online. But your new site was ALREADY activated (I saw it), before something caused your hosting company to take your site down when I then tried to pay you!

This is what I was greeted with when I tried to pay you Friday...

"You see this page, because the system administrator of 000webhost.com is currently checking this website for malicious content."
And you don't understand why I might be worried?

I am not giving you my paypal e-mail.
This statement makes no sense.

As I already indicated in my prior post, your PayPal addy is ALREADY publicly visible! Anybody can simply click-through your pay page, click the Pay with PayPal button, and it's in HUGE BOLD LETTERS on the top of the screen!

So the claim that ppl can't pay you safely via PayPal directly because "I don't want to give out my PayPal addy" is total BS.

Once again, people fail to realize that I am NOT DOING BUSINESS.
Then why are you requiring ppl to go through business shopping software, hosted on unsavory / unsafe locations, :undecided: instead of just letting members here pay you directly and safely via PayPal?

When you commit to this group buy, you should look over it and make sure you will go through with it.
I did.

I tried to pay you several times Thursday using the method you requested, but was unable to do so because of problems on your end.

When I politely requested you to PM me with alternative payment info, instead of PM'ing me, or even saying anything like "sorry for the problems with my site", you instead respond to my polite enquiry with this sort of nonsense -

If you don't trust me then I am sorry to inform you that you are out of luck
:wtf:

Not exactly the PM response I was expecting, to say the least.

Even after this, I tried YET AGAIN to pay you on Friday, using the NEW link you later provided, but was AGAIN unable to do so, this time getting a warning message about "malicious content" from your hosting company instead!

Even worse, you have been complaining that this GB is being held-up, because ppl aren't paying you fast enough!

Look, at the same time I was trying to pay YOU, I also purchased something from another member.

I asked him to PM me his PayPal addy. Unlike you, he actually PM'd me back and sent it. I paid him Thursday (the same day I repeatedly tried to pay you on your f'd-up hacker-popular site without success). I PM'd him back and forth about product details and best shipping options. He shipped it to me Friday (the same day I AGAIN tried to pay you on your second site, and got a "malicious content" warning instead). I expect to be receiving the item from him shortly.

Like you, he was not selling at a profit, but was doing this for the benefit of the LPF community.

But he was not lamenting about what a charitable service he was doing for everybody, or using that as an excuse for making paying him so unsafe and difficult either. ;)

Look, I've ALREADY wasted more time trying to use your TWO flakey web sites than this sled is even worth! If your locating your pay page on a known phishing/scam site was "accidental" (let alone the "malicious content" warning I got when I tried to pay on your second site!), and are simply "offering a service to the community" as you claim, given these repeated, bizarre circumstances, why don't you allow us to pay you directly using PayPal's safe & secure site?

Particularly given the bizarre circumstances, an honest & helpful member should not have a problem with that.

Hey Seo, not arguing your points, but you need to condense your post, and keep the giant letters out. A simple "bold" will get the points across. The post is so long I dont even want to read the whole thing because it will take 5 minutes.

...changing my PP password now.

you're implying - by your emphasis - that AMK's motives are dishonest. I suggest you modify that. AMK has been a trusted member here for a couple of years; you've been around a few months.

Thank you for pointing out the possible flaws in his setup. Now that that's done, if you don't want to "waste more time", don't waste more of ours.
