Man . . . . Even Luke got his and I haven't gotten mine yet. :(

Isn't priority supposed to be faster? :undecided:

Peace,

This red diode from SF sled can work just as LOC from LPC.
380-420mA without problems.

I noticed that wings are more noticeable with this diode from SF but can do great job for its price.

I have the Smoc at 300ma and it seems to be doing fine. Only about 30min so far no heatsink,1min duty cycle.

The SmOC (Small Open Can) is the 3.6mm red diode from the Pioneer 8X and 12X sleds. IIRC these have a Short Open Can (SOC).

Or is my brain on Whack today?

It's been a long time since I cracked one of these

Peace,
dave

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

I'm not sure but somewhere I read that an open can with a short 1/2 bar instead of a long bar is a Smoc.
Sorry if I'm wrong.
On another note
I have been cracking off the heat sinks with the two grips and a twist method. This method doesn't seem to work so well because the metal flexes. Does anybody have a remedy that doesn't involve a hacksaw or one of Flamingpyro's gadgets?

You can tell by the size, as Dave said. A Smoc will not fit an AixiZ module.

Ohh. I thought it was just a Small (bar) open can instead of Small open can?
Anyone still know about extracting the diodes from the metal soft/tight metal heatsink.

Would you call it a Shoc? (short open can)

If the metal is "flexing", flex it GENTLY back and forth. The metal will fatigue and break.

Be careful. It might fall out. Make sure you are over a "soft", close surface

dave

Yes that's what I did. I was just worried about the metal cracking abruptly and scraping the bar of the open can.

The can is open, but the bar is still inside the open can. So I would not sweat it.

There was description on HTD about these SF red diodes and recommended current was 380mA, the same as for LPC-815 LOC.

I have few lasers using this Short Open Can diode @410mA and none of diodes have died yet.

Recommended "safe" current. If you go to Niko's diode copulation it says they can be pushed over 400mA.

 I'm sure your spell-check passed that, but you may want to state that differently...

unless Niko has found a novel way to manufacture diodes (maybe "OrganicLED's?)

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

couldn't you just move FP and his 10 diodes to batch 3 to fast up the whole process?
(I've burned my PHR and I really need some bluray :D)
