An alternative to saran wrap would be a piece of Lee density filter. The Zircon series is made for high power LEDs, I have used it with flashlights to balance CCT's. It would probably work fairly well for a laser. Any neutral density filter would work, in fact.

Budget Light Forum, similar to CPF but they focus more on DIY, community sourcing designs, and keeping the lights on the affordable side. If you have any interest in modern high power LED flashlights, it's certainly worth checking out. :)

From my reading the 488 and 492 are both Sharp "485nm" diodes that have been binned and calibrated. Not sure about the 520, but I've got one on order. :geek:
