    Really, Really big Dye Laser

They are not actually that expensive and technology IS my recreation. As you will soon see in the next video, we plan to take this channel forward and cover a much broader range of technologies because both my sons are similarly inclined, even if not "into lasers". The channel may someday...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

The next video in this series is now up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBe0zyv4PvI Hope you enjoy it.

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

Actually, this is one of the highest energy dye lasers shown ever...period. Please reconsider that. The reason I am posting this video and for that matter all of my videos is not to show off what I have accomplished. I state this wish all through my channel. Sure, I love the support and the...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

The next wave will come with Mg ion. Twice the voltage per cell.

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

Funny you should ask. Another project I am working on is at the other end of the spectrum (so to speak). This is a diode laser pumped....wait for it...dye laser. Who would have thought, but although there has been an enormous amount of work on solid media hosted dyes, the dye degradation...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

The limit is peak pumping power. Only a laser driven dye laser is able to produce CW or CCW output. For those that are aware of the single attempt to use high intensity arc pumped dye lasers, the output was so minuscule that it is not worth pursuing. On my Dye laser video "575nm Yellow Dye...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

I will be showing the internals in detail in the following videos. The output is 50J...now. I have produced around 100J...once or twice, then the optics fail. I'll show the lens from one of these big shots. That occurred at 12kV charging voltage. The highest output ever generated by a dye...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

As I posted on PL, the INPUT power is at 25% (10 kV), but the OUTPUT is far from linear. It is more like 10%. The beam is extremely visible and the duration has no effect on that other than to make it seem brighter rather than dimmer. One microsecond and 10 msec looks identical to the eye and...

    Really, Really big Dye Laser

I just posted a new video on my YouTube channel. This is the culmination of a couple of years of work on a very high energy, 580nm pulsed dye laser. It will be followed, in short order, by several more videos that go deeper into its operation and additional demonstrations of its performance. I...

    New Laser Video

Raman lasers love high peak powers. One of the best materials is actually CVD diamond. It is now quite inexpensive and the only challenge is AR coatings. You can Brewster angle for one wavelength, but not for both. The dyes are easy, just flow them at a high rate. It is the windows that pose...

    New Laser Video

I just finished installing a DPSS laser that will be used to pump dyes, quantum dots and Raman lasers. The laser is so powerful that we couldn't resist cutting the odd razor blade, potato chip...you know. This is in no way a technical, "how to" video, just a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy it...

    Laser Weapons

That is true, but is completely ridiculous. You can shoot him multiple times, cripple him, paralyze him, kill him, blow up his remains and vaporize his plane, but it is a "crime" to blind him. Lasers will be a selective weapon like EMP weapons and cyber attacks. They will crack things, injure...

    Laser Weapons

That isn't complex, but that is how they work. A synchrotron light source is even simpler and can be very intense, yet to be a laser there has to be feedback from the light to the gain medium and in this case that is the electron packets. It is true that if the gain is sufficiently high, as in...

    Laser Weapons

X ray lasers are a division of free electron lasers that are proposed for ship mounted defenses. They operate pretty simply. The electron beam is accelerated to somewhere above 1x10^8 eV. The higher the better, but there are trade offs such as current. The higher the current, the better...

    Laser Weapons

Watch for it. For a number of years it has become the PC term to cover all humans involved in the military; all divisions, all ***es all roles. This is why I despise it. I agree here. The energy conversion efficiency for a rail gun should become extremely high if superconducting coils...

    Laser Weapons

Why are all of these laser weapon demos "focused" on CW lasers? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVB2b5Hbm04 I can nearly pull this off myself and if I was willing to use a CO2 laser, I could. This undoubtedly multi-million dollar system has to persist on the target for several seconds. I...

    x-ray homemade

Making the x rays should not be hard. Either a commercial tube or a home made tube can work. To get a good amount of current through the vacuum, don't forget to use a good emitter. Something with a low electron work function and a steady heater will provide the cloud of free electrons. The HV...

Not worth mentioning because they would be in deep trouble!

Sorry, but this is too presumptive. The humanoid form is more prevalent ? So, now you are suggesting there is enough evidence that a curve can be generated? To me, this as scientific as claims that we can group angels into different categories. I'm going to ask this again.

Not worth mentioning because they would be in deep trouble!

The video suggests to me that this is fake. The "creature" is way to humanoid. The odds and everything is a probability, of so many features matching ours are very low. The large head would evolve a stouter or shorter neck...probably. Why would a race capable of the trip fail to recover...
