This is good advice from Rivem. if you have a adjustable bench power supply you could test the laser diode with that, set the voltage to around 3.8-4.2 volts and see what current is being drawn by the LD, if it's not already 1100mA then turn the voltage up slowly until you reach 700mA the LD...

It is my belief while some LPC826 diodes can take 500mA and live some can not, and that is why I never run them much past 400mA drive current. I like the GGW red myself they are also single mode and seem to be a bit hardier, I'll have to put some of both to the test and record the results...

I have drivers that can do what you ask all made by Angelos do you want a round driver ? I have one that can be set from 85mA to 400mA and one that can be set from 50mA to 225mA, there are others available like the V5 and the MicroBoost , I can set them for you also. PM me if you are still...

these have been around for a while and they are smaller and only 5000mA, I'll check one out but I believe they will do the same with a pot attached> I just checked and my bad as this driver is either on or off there is no granule increase :cryyy:
