    "Hellowski"

Hellowski, laserists! My name is Max. I was born and raised in Ukraine, but have now spent the majority of my life in the USA. I work as a software engineer for a corporation that sells products I would not use at home. I was in Virginia Tech class of 2004, Go Hokies! Some other stuff I'm...

    Sieg C0 Micro Lathe $73.00

xStatiCa, congrats on getting you lathe! This is not the $73 lathe being discussed in this thread, but a higher model? I would also be interested in hearing how they have been working out for people. How does cutting round aluminum stock feel on these, is it sturdy enough to make heatsinks?

    FS: The Apollo Kit

Damn dude, really sorry to hear this:yabbmad: These people are ridiculous! Maybe some member from NYC whom you can trust would try to return these at their address in person?...

Looking for a Red Laser. Need Help.

I've killed 5 total so far: 3 LOC and 2 PHR. I only just got my first diy LOC to work and put it all in a box. I must say that the 650 is powerful, easy smoke/burn on dark things, but I can't see the beam even in the dark. There needs to be something in the air to scatter the beam, smoke...

Using a micro controller? LOOK HERE

I had an iDuino for a year until it stopped getting connected via USB, so it became useless. It's now called Boarduino I think. I'd be interested in a cheap microcontroller. Are you doing a GB on this or just getting the word out?

Looking for a Red Laser. Need Help.

Pfew, yea anywhere over 450mA and you're pretty much guaranteed to blow the LOC. I got one running at just that;)

Looking for a Red Laser. Need Help.

Do you mean LPC-815 and 430mA?

Looking for a Red Laser. Need Help.

I think it's the other way around, the higher the nm, the more red and darker it looks. My 650 I can barely see the beam, and mostly in the dark with some smoke. I used long exposure shots while taking pics to see it. So 635 should be brighter than 650. Link to big image

405nm triggers the transition on my glasses, any other wavelengths do this?

Thanx for the links, I might get those after my safety goggles arrive. It seems dangerous to point a laser at glasses because the reflection/refraction through the curved/coated lenses might bounce back at me:)

    no nothing

Re: SF-AW210 is USD 8.0/pcs I'd be in on a GB for these. If I read correctly, these can be safely run at 200mA to produce 250mW with a glass 405nm lens. $8/ea, yes please:)

405nm triggers the transition on my glasses, any other wavelengths do this?

I have a laser box too! Just a lonely Uranium bubble in addition to the lasers in the at the moment. Need to steal someone's expensive glasses...

    532nm/650nm keychains with star cap

Re: 532nm keychains with star cap - Closed for this time Hey, I noticed the pointer would dim after a short time, so I tried to see what it was. The pointer itself is perfectly fine, but I am now guessing the IR diode's driver gets hot over time. This is to be expected in a tiny 1 cell green...

100mW PHR-803T in a Black Cree C3 Host with Extension Tube Budget Build.!

Great build and easy for a beginner, I might be making one if I ever make another DX order. I built a red with the simple 2-part circuit, but it's in a box and looks funny/ugly. It really works and you don't the other parts like in the DDL, but it would be nicer as a thin little flashlight:)...

Killed 2 LOC diodes last night, don't know why...

I now have a portable red laser  Inside are 2x fully charged 14500's, LM317+3Ohms, On/Off button; long heatsink by Mohrenberg, thermal paste around Aixiz, teflon tape on the 650nm glass lens. Lighting match Beam with some smoke I tried a new LD1117 with the 3 Ohm too, it works just as...

Russion scientists win nobel prize for graphene breakthroughs

The best part is HOW they made it:) They used scotch tape to peel off thin layers from a big piece of graphite!

Killed 2 LOC diodes last night, don't know why...

I killed 2 LOC diodes from LPC-815 sleds using my LD1117 driver. I was saying 5 total now because I also killed 2x PHR and another LOC a few weeks ago, but for different reasons: I was using a breadboard and accidentally would put the wires into the wrong pin... GF is working for half a day...

Killed 2 LOC diodes last night, don't know why...

Eudaimonium, I checked the resistance and it's 2.5 Ohm, measured 2.8 and the probes alone gave me 0.3. I watched your videos for harvesting the LOC and PHR, and I noted you touching the diode heatsink with your fingers. Based on that I figured static isn't a huge issue. Vaporizer, I should...

Introducing Radiant Electronics and the Radiant Alpha Power Meter

WTH, this site is being blocked by my employer... I had to go through a proxy to our DC to be able to see it, but I see it now:)

Killed 2 LOC diodes last night, don't know why...

Should I do this near my work area, preferably right before touching the diode? I have hot water baseboard heating in my apt, I could probably attach an anti-static wristwrap to the pipe that runs inside of it. Hmm, just more and more evidence that my driver was at fault. I will try them...
